FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2019 43 Let's Dance (ballroom dance) Line Dancing Happy New Year! Our dance group is happy to announce we will begin 2019 with the East Coast Swing in the month of January and you are all invited and encouraged to come out and join us on Monday nights in the Ballroom! Remember your New Year's Resolution to get fit and have more fun? Our group offers both! The Swing is one of the most enjoyable and easy dances anyone can learn. It has simple footwork that repeats itself while you learn different ways to turn and dance with your partner to almost any fast music. It is easily one of the most diverse dances to learn because you can dance it to so many kinds of music – jazz, country, 50s, and current-day music. We aren't professionals. We're just a happy group of friendly people doing the best we can with what we have. Because we don't take ourselves too seriously, we often laugh out loud. In other words, we have fun! We understand it takes time and patience to first learn, then improve the various dances. Dancing is good for your heart and brain and great for your health. Come on out and give it a try. You will be glad you did. Plan to join us in the Ballroom Monday, Jan. 7 from 6 to 7 pm for Newcomers and Beginners and from 7 to 8 pm for Intermediate and Advanced. The cost is $10 per person with our professional instructors. For more information, contact Puring or Gary Stifter at (951) 922- 8333 or at purings@verizon.net. ~ Sue Condurachi Happy New Year, everyone! 2018 proved to be a busy, fun-filled year for Country Line Dance. We had a blast at our Harvest Hoedown in November, as many of our Beginners joined in the fun, dancing the dances that they had learned. The Beginner Class has about 40 new dancers, including more than a dozen men, and we are glad to welcome them to class. There will be a free Line Dance Sock Hop on Jan. 18, from 5 to 8:30 pm, in the Ballroom. So, come and learn some dances and join us. Janine Rohrbacker will be starting a new session of the Beginners Class on Jan. 8, at 2 pm in the Ballroom. If you have never line danced or if it has been a while and you need a refresher, this the class for you. Janine will teach you the basic steps as well as several dances. It takes about eight weeks to master the basic steps. Please plan on regularly attending, especially the first two to three weeks of the month, to learn the basic steps. Dances will be repeated each week to make sure you are ready to move on to some new dances and steps. The classes will give you a great introduction to many of the dances we do at the Sock Hops and at Karaoke. We try to dance as often as we can. The Intermediate Class starts at 3 pm, and is taught by Martha Franck and Janine Rohrbacker. There is less step-by-step teaching, except for new dances. A quick review of the steps will be done as needed for familiar dances. The Advanced Class starts at 3:45 pm. New dances are introduced, but you need to know the basic steps very well, and be an experienced dancer. Bring water and wear shoes that can slide on the wood floor. A weekly donation of $1 will go toward our parties and sock hops. So if you need to work off some of those holiday indulgences and start off the New Year right, join us on Tuesdays for Country Line Dance. ~ Cindy Schwinn; cmsausten@aol.com
