It's January and Happy New Year to all! Hard to believe another year has rolled around. Another whole new year to work at having fun, sampling temptations and confessions of good intentions. Is there an ink shortage? There were only 25 entries this month, which is barely half the normal count of 48. Because there was no November BOD meeting to have the drawing, I asked Bobbie Davis to come to my home and execute the drawing on Nov. 30. To lessen the suspense, the names of the lucky winners of "Two Free Sunday Brunches" from Francisco are Paul and Linda Lukerchine. Because the BOD meeting is so early in December the drawing will be done near the end of the month and whenever I catch someone to do the heavy lifting of that paper with the lucky names on it. The ordered cloches (plate covers) have arrived. I attended the Dec. 5 Ladies Charity Luncheon and witnessed the cloches maiden appearance. I am pleased to suggest, we may have come upon the solution of food not served as warm as we desire. The wait staff will soon be wearing name tags so you will know the name of the server you are complimenting, and don't we all like compliments. I heard rumors that Francisco might be considering new uniform shirts for his staff, perhaps something else new to start the new year. We have been working with Francisco on a simpler, one page Banquet Menu. Those of you that order for club functions can contact Louise or myself for upcoming events menu. Please do all your event planning through the Bistro Committee. That's what we are here for, that and to simplify event orders for Francisco allowing him more time to do his kitchen magic. Most of the holiday parties have come and gone, all memorable, I hope. I am looking forward to the New Year's Eve extravaganza that Margie and her crew have put together. Please pass on a compliment to those that volunteer and work so hard to make these fun events so outstanding. Hours of planning plus more hours of labor is required to make it flow smoothly and exceptional in every way! I understand that on Nov. 30, the "Fifth Friday of the month special," Western Style Chicken and Ribs" was a super hit as always and I had to miss it! Did the announcement of the event having the Once Again Band there for you have anything to do with the exceptional turn out? A night of great food, at a great price, plus great music, who could ask for anything more? You know when Francisco does these "special price nights" it is his way of thanking us for patronizing the Bistro and the music is a bonus. So a few bumps in the road may have occurred, please remember he always does his best to accommodate everyone, but 35 to 50 more dinners is a big swing to assimilate, plus the room can only accommodate so many guests. Maybe we could work out a "phone-in count reservations" so Francisco has some idea for a number to expect? Since the next fifth Friday of the month doesn't happen again until March we will put on our thinking caps and see what we come up with to ease any future situations.
