| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2019 | 31 SEEKING FULFILLMENT IN RELATIONSHIPS As spiritual seekers we aspire for God-Realization. At the same time we are dealing with eons of lifetimes (dreams) related to form. It is this misidentification with form, with dream, with illusion that causes so much suffering. This world is illusory. How do we know it is illusory? It doesn't last. This world we perceive does not last. What lasts is Spirit, Consciousness. Our Being lasts FOREVER. We last forever in our essence. We are not who we think we are. We are the Consciousness itself and that is Eternal. We need nothing added to that to find the highest happiness and satisfaction ever. Thinking that a relationship will really fulfill us is seeing through a glass darkly. Nothing will fulfill our deepest yearning for lasting happiness in this world. The only thing that fulfills the spirit is finding the Truth, finding God. The Bible teaches, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." Once you find the kingdom of God, then the love and compassion you feel will be free of attachment. Now you can really love. It will not be mixed with need: need for fulfillment, need for recognition, for acceptance, need for love. Neediness will not be part of this love. The recipient of your love will glow knowing that you give it freely and unconditionally. It will not be transactional. Having said that, I have to add that letting go of ideas as to where happiness lies is something that is affected by Grace. We don't make the changes. The ego self cannot change what it feels to be the road to happiness. Only your God Self knows and Guides in the right direction. We may not agree with the Guidance, however, but God is always Right and God does everything perfectly. Trust in that Power that Guides your life for the discovery of Truth. If there is a tug between desire for liberation (which is the only legitimate desire) and the mind's attachment to an idea of happiness, do not fear for the Self is stronger and very resourceful. Truth/God will succeed over illusion. SATSANG (GROUP MEETING WITH A SPIRITUAL AIM) begins with a 30 min. meditation (15 min if new people are present) followed by a discourse and a short video presentation offered by a teacher adhering to the teaching of Non-Duality. As always questions are warmly encouraged. We meet in the Multipurpose Room (next to the Library) in the Main Clubhouse. Our weekly schedule is as follows: Sundays at 11:30 am– 1 pm This is a FREE offering.
