| OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2019 | 3 President's Message By Tom Murphy Our ability to move forward with our lives in a positive way often depends on perception. C.S. Lewis said, "What you see, and what you hear, depends a great deal on where you are standing." As an example, I often walk my dog, Cruiser, west toward the dark sky of early morning with worried thoughts of the coming day. Then we turn for home, facing the dawn filled with an incredible, brightly colored sunrise, and my thoughts become positive and optimistic. This was apparent at our amazing Do Dues Day. We sat at the Master Board table as members arrived, and everyone seemed so excited about their club selections. Smiles, thank-yous, questions, and suggestions were given to us, all of which were reminders of why we volunteer. OHCC really is a "year-round summer camp for adults," just as the original developers envisioned. On Do Dues Day, we were pleased to have our new General Manager, Wendy Panizza, walk the many booths and visit with the hunderds of volunteers that make up the personality of our community. She will be a great asset to us as we move forward. This next month we can look forward to landscaping the Inspiration Hill project, beginning the bidding process for the Clubhouse renovation, and the creation of plans for the golf course irrigation, using our new-found water well. The new committee formed to study Cox's contract for TV and alarm systems has had their first meeting… more to follow. Thanks to all of you who applied to serve on our various committees. We met in Executive Session on Jan. 17 to discuss delinquency review, personnel, legal opinions, member disciplinary hearings and discussion of third-party contracts. Approved in the Executive Session this morning was the direction to staff to solicit bids for insurance representation as the current contract is set to expire in March; Johnson Interiors for the consultation of the Clubhouse interior design in an amount NTE $3,750; a homeowner reimbursement request; and the HOA office to close on Jan. 31 for staff to attend the KPPM Annual Meeting. Have a great month and remember, as Irving Berlin said, "Life is 10 percent what you make it and 90 percent how you take it." P.S. Happy Anniversary, Bets!
