18 | OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2019 | Stained Glass Thanks to the many of you who have signed up for the beginner's classes scheduled to start in January and March. Stay tuned: another class with be scheduled later in the summer. To get on the waiting list contact Jo Marr. Photography The Feb. 21, meeting of the Photography Club at 1 pm in the Ladies Clubroom will be a presentation by Charlie Payne, who will address the question "Could That Picture You Love Be Even Better?" You love that 100-year-old picture of your grandmother, but it is so badly faded. You love that new picture of your granddaughter, but the color is wrong. Let Charlie show how he employs a short series of steps to address these problems using the Photoshop Elements software available on our OHCC computers. He will show how powerful these simple steps can be in recovering the original beauty of an aged photograph. In addition to restoring old photos, his talk will explore what some of the other techniques available in Photoshop Elements can accomplish: • Fixing Light & Color • Moving People to Another Location • Creating Special Effects • Switching Heads (for April 1st) Shown here is a pair of "before and after" photos of a bride as an example of restoration of old pictures. Another pair of images of a young woman not only shows the dramatic improvements achievable with Elements in terms of lighting and color, but it also changes a mundane outdoor background into a richly furnished room in a grand house. A third pair shows the dramatic effects of Elements when it is used to transform a badly exposed image. This presentation is not intended as a class, but it will include a one-page handout of Charlie's Simple Steps for Fixing Light and Color in case you would like to experiment with his techniques. All Photography Club members are encouraged to come and we will also be delighted to welcome non-members as guests. We encourage anyone with an interest in photography to join for 2019 for the modest fee of $8. Cliff went fishing! Cliff Singh made a colorful stained glass fish.
