"With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning!" Team Sunshine Volunteers of the Year: On Jan. 24, we were privileged to honor two of our own as Team Sunshine's Volunteers of the Year for 2018. Brenda Beers, Co-Chair, presented a plaque with their names inscribed with this honor. Both of these gals have gone above and beyond their assigned tasks. Thank you, Carole and Rose for your special efforts. Kindness Recognition: Our neighbor and friend, Mary Thomas Bowe (left), is a member of SASY (a strength training class here at Four Seasons). Recently, she had need of a walker which Team Sunshine provided. In conversations with Mary, she shared that she had designed a bag to go over the front of the aluminum walker which allowed her hands to be free to navigate the device. Mary has donated her time, material and expertise to provide Team Sunshine with these bags without cost to us. The bags are beautifully designed and are "one-of-a-kind" for each aluminum walker we deliver. Judy Tetley and Cheryl Robinson (right) are very happy recipients. We believe that Mary is the perfect recipient for the February Kindness Award. Thank you, Mary, for thinking of us. Celebrations of Life/Memorials: We are saddened to hear of the loss of our neighbor and friend, Jerry Fields. A Celebration of Life was held on Jan. 20 in the Lodge Ballroom. Our sympathies also go out to the Rudy Martinez family who gathered in the Lodge Ballroom on Jan. 26 for a Celebration of Life. We have also learned that there are other losses: Paddy Craun and Terry Evans. There are no words that sufficiently comfort the family and friends of these Four Seasons residents. Our deepest sympathies go out to each. We are not always aware of losses in the Four Seasons community, but our sincerest sympathies go out to those who are mourning the loss of a loved one. Programs: On Feb. 20 a 90+ birthday party was held for special folks in our community who had attained the age of 90 or more. Team Sunshine is honored and privileged to make this a yearly event. We will share a photo in the April issue of the Herald. March 21 at 3 pm in the Lodge Ballroom, Team Sunshine will be presenting a program entitled, "How to be more efficient with water usage." See flyer below. Team Sunshine "Needs" Information: Please fill out a *NEEDS* Form at the Lodge Front Desk if you know of someone who has recently lost a loved one. This form can also be used for various kinds of needs assistance. In case you prefer not to call but would like us to know of a need, this form will record your concern and will be passed on to the appropriate Team Sunshiner. Medical Equipment: We do have donated/used medical equipment that we deliver and pick up from residents. Residents who request medical equipment are required to sign a waiver form. Return of medical equipment is requested by contacting Jeanne Lincoln (765-7112). Many thanks for your cooperation. Our Prayer Warriors: Marietta Ruppaner conducts a prayer circle once a month to pray for our residents in need. All are welcome to attend the prayer circle. Just give Marietta a call and she'll give you the date, time and place. Also, if you have a prayer request, get in touch with Marietta or place your prayer request in the Prayer Box in the Multipurpose Room. We are thankful for the service they give to our community. Closing Thoughts: "Approach the New Year with resolve to find the opportunities hidden in each new day." – Michael Josephson Team Sunshine 22 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | March 2019 |
