52 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2019 In February we held our first in-house tournament of 2019. It was a lot of fun, with laughter and competition, as the men and women in the Billiards for Fun Group challenged each other for the honor of having their names on the brand new 2019-2020-2021 plaque! Our first 2019 champs were: in first place, partners Pete Antoine and Johnny Ramirez; second place honors went to partners Carlos Rivera and David Martin (see photos above). There was a lot of teasing and good-natured fun during the tournament. However, in the final playoffs between the first and second session winners, all bets were off and serious concentrated competition took over. It was so much fun to watch, and several of the members stayed to congratulate the winners. All four winners are such good players and integral parts of the overall camaraderie of our fun group. So all you Four Seasons residents, take your pool cues out of storage, dust them off and come join us! (Oh, yeah, if you don't have your own cue, there are lots of them in the Billiards Room you can use!) We have a great time, and the members of this group are not only fun, funny and kind, but will be patient with you while you hone your rusty skills! We have formal play every Tuesday at either 11 am or 1 pm in The Lodge Billiards Room. Hope to see you soon! ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine, egcellent@msn.com Billiards for Fun The "Wild Bunch" 8-Ball Billiards Group is geared for those individuals who want to play competitively with those of their skill level. We started the new year with inviting the "best of the best" from Sun Lakes and Solera to play competition on Fridays, from 12:30 to 3:30 pm in our Billiards Room. It has been a great success with the skill levels ranging from Level 4 to Level 7. The "Wild Bunch" consists of some of the best players in the league: Joe Spinella, Lucas Don, Bob Rector, Robert Turner, Mike Corbett, Carlos Rivera, LeRoy Wright, Rocket Spinosa, and Gracy Luna. We will be hosting another competitive tournament between Sun Lakes, Solera and Four Seasons in April. It will be a one-on- one singles tournament. We are looking forward to some great competitive play and taking home the trophy! If you want to play serious, competitive pool, we invite you to come by the Billiards Room and join in the stimulation of competitive play. We do not play with partners; we play one-on-one with an opponent of your skill level. We are always looking for those who want to play competitively and, who knows, you just may want to change up your game and play on the team! And, most importantly, we have a good time! ~ Gracy Luna, gracyluna@aol.com Wild Bunch Billiards Second place: Carlos Rivera and Dave Martin First place: Johnny Ramirez and Pete Antoine
