FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2019 45 Life Guide Bible Study This month we will continue our study of the New Testament book of James, led by Doc Sellars. The book of James is an early Christian letter that teaches us about faith, patience, and wisdom. We invite all residents to join us for fellowship, discussion, and learning from God's Word. We also support each other in prayer. We meet in The Lodge Ballroom every Tuesday evening at 7 pm. Please contact Doc or Letha Sellars with any questions or comments at (951) 797-3302 or docletha72@gmail.com. ~ Doc Sellars After studying the Apostle Paul's four missionary journeys in the months of February and March 2019, we began studying Paul's letters. Paul wrote his first epistle (letter) to the people of Galatia after he completed his first missionary journey in 50 A.D. while he was in Antioch (present day Antakya, located in south-central Turkey, 12 miles from the Syrian border). The people of Galatia, having launched their Christian experience by faith, veered off course, and instead of a faith- based practice, they focused instead on works. Paul was so distressed, he sent his letter to the Galatians to encourage them back to faith. In April we began studying Paul's next two letters to the people of Thessalonica, a thriving seaport city in the province of ancient Macedonia (present day Greece). Paul arrived in Thessalonica on his second missionary journey, after delivery from a prison in Philippi. He started a church, appointed elders, and helped the ministry take root, all in a period of three weeks. However, he wrote First and Second Thessalonians while on an 18-month stay in Corinth during this same journey, in approximately 51-53 A.D. In mid-April and May we will begin studying First and Second Corinthians and Romans, all of which were written during Paul's third missionary journey. During that journey Paul stayed in Ephesus in ancient Asia Minor (present-day Turkey) for three years. It was during this three-year period (54-57 A.D.) that he wrote his epistles First and Second Corinthians and Romans. If you want to join us during our current journey through 13 of the books of the New Testament written by Paul, we meet in The Lodge Game Room every Friday from 10:30 to 11:45 am. We hope you'll join us. We are learning so much! ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine; egcellent@msn.com "Believe…" Women's Bible Study Intercessory Prayer group Greeting intercessors, friends and neighbors! While reading the web I found a post about springtime by Dr. Lis Gabardi Ph.D., LLC. She posts: "Spring is a hopeful season! It brings transformation and change; from darkness to light, from cold to warmth, from grey to bursts of color. It is a time for cleaning house, new growth in gardens, and baby animals. The new life, the new beginnings, and bright colorful new look that spring brings are hopeful signs that life on this earth renews again and again. We don't remain in any one season or cycle in life indefinitely. Seasons change. We, too, have cycles and rhythms to our lives and to our growth process." I agree that we have cycles and rhythms that change from year to year. Things can change quickly from one day to the next. But because we live by hope and faith, we expect to see only the best happen in our life. While things are going well let's take the time to pray for one another. We meet in The Lodge Game Room on the first Monday of each month at 9 am. Come and pray for our community. Men are welcome. ~ Cookie Bonner; eaglewatchwb@aol.com
