42 | OHCC LIVING | MAY 2019 | Founders Duplicate Bridge Friday Duplicate Bridge The Founders Duplicate Bridge game follows the regulations established by the ACBL (American Contract Bridge League). One of them governs dummy's responsibilities. "Dummy can't call the director during the play! The only thing the dummy is permitted to do during the play is to try to prevent an irregularity from happening. He may tell his partner he is in his hand if it seems about to lead from the board. He may try to prevent a revoke by saying, "Having none?" if declarer (and only declarer – he may not ask defenders) shows out of a suit. If the dummy sees an opponent revoke, he may not call attention to it during the play. However, at the end of the hand, he should quickly ask everyone to leave their cards in order and then he may call the director." ~ From ACBL Proprieties and Ethics If you are a current intermediate duplicate player, a rubber bridge player who wants to learn the duplicate game, or a former bridge player (college maybe?) or taking bridge classes here at OHCC, then come join us. We are a friendly bunch. We play every Tuesday at 6:30 pm (check in at 6:15 pm) at Abravanel Hall or the Mykonos room. Player donation of $3 is requested. Please bring correct amount. Annual dues are $6. For partnership, arrangements please contact Phyllis Skall, (858) 405-2684 or email pskall@yahoo.com. Please join us! We offer a Duplicate Bridge game that combines the superior scoring of Duplicate Bridge but also has the friendlier and non- aggressive attitude of home style Rubber Bridge. With Duplicate Bridge, your true opponents are the pairs that hold the same cards as you would rather than your opponents at the table. We are not an ACBL game and for that, we not only offer an extremely reasonable game price of just $2, but also give cash awards to the winners. If you are interested, please call John Gates, the president of this Bridge Club, to see if this type of game might meet your expectations. We are relatively small and have anywhere from five to eight tables. The games are at 1 pm on the second, fourth, and fifth Fridays of the month in Mykonos. You do not have to join this club to play your first game, however if you decide to join the annual dues are $6.
