paisano club Winter has not dampened the spirits, activities, and camaraderie of our membership. The February meeting was a pot luck with entertainment by ���Joey Mercado and her Friends.��� We had lots of laughs, good entertainment and a variety of dishes from some of the best cooks in Sun Lakes. Our March meeting is coming up on the first Friday of the month, March 1, 5 pm, in the South Clubhouse. We are celebrating St. Joseph���s Day with a scrumptious Italian catered pasta dinner. Price is $12 pp ($14 for guests) with Dee Nicoletti, Treasurer, collecting checks. Ray Rendon will provide entertainment and he will do a tribute of songs of Frank Sinatra. This publication comes out so close to our monthly venue that it is difficult to spread the word in enough time for checks to be sent, etc. Therefore, know that you can always call a board member to get a head start to all future functions: President, Marie Grinceri, 8451144; Vice President/Secretary, Jan Stapel, 769-6110; Treasurer/ Secretary, Dee Nicoletti, 846-3096. We are in the process of changing our by-laws as it relates to dues. We started in July and so the dues ran Fiscal Year, not Calendar Year. Since the Board runs on calendar year, it was thought best to change the cycle of dues. Therefore, we are submitting our plans to the membership to change dues to calendar year effective 2014. Therefore, all members will pay only $7.50 in July, 2013 to keep them current through the year and in January, 2014, dues will be due and payment at $15 pp. Stay tuned to hear final confirmation of the bylaw changes. April 18: Internet Part 2: Surfing the net and search engines explained. mystery theater & more drama club Don���t miss what will be, undoubtedly, the best show of the year. ���That���s Entertainment 2013,��� is totally hosted, crafted and cast by only using the top talent from our community, the cream of the crop you might say. This show is ready and in its fourperformance run as you read this. However, you still may attend the final performance for our final reserved table seating performance at today���s Sunday matinee at 3 pm for a mere $8 pp. We always sell tickets at the door and if needed will ensure that additional tables and chairs are set-up to accommodate people that wish to attend a particular sold-out performance. This show really is something! It features our cast performing only songs or acts that were absolute show stoppers when they first hit the stage. So don���t miss it! We have successfully cast our play for a four-performance starting Thurs., May 30. With ���Tomb with a View,��� written by Norman Robbins, we also have discovered some new talent from the community to showcase! This play is a hoot, and you know how we like comedy! It has all of the elements that will keep the side-splitting howling coming from you from start to finish. We���ll even give you a hint of the goings-on with the premise that a very dysfunctional family that includes a lawyer and a delusional misfit with a ���Julius Caesar��� complex attempting to settle the estate of their just deceased, very well-to-do family patriarch. In the process, the family members seem to drop like flies through the actions of a yet to be determined murderous family member���s criminal ways. It���s mysterious, it���s mystifying, and it���s an outright farce! Tickets go on sale in mid-May! If you are new to the community and are looking for activities that stimulate your mind and harness your energies, consider visiting us. Our monthly business meeting is on the first Tuesday of the month, in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom at 1 pm. Join us on March 5, and find out what being on the stage does to motivate your mind, social skills and give your life purpose! If you like to stay busy we are the perfect group for you! Info., Ginger, 845-9685. We���re rehearsing for our spring show, ���Love, Loss, and What I Wore,��� by Nora and Delia Ephron. This play, a hit on Broadway last season, is being directed by Sallie Smelker and stars some of the best actresses we have. The New Yorker Magazine raved that ���Never has the love of beautiful clothes seemed less frivolous.��� While this may sound like a ���chick��� play, it appeals to men and women alike. The production dates are April 5 through April 7, with two evenings and one matinee performance. May���s Reader���s Theatre has chosen ���First Contact,��� an original play by Ken Brown based upon a science fiction story by Murray Leinster. Reader���s Theatre is one of our more successful efforts and has played to sold out houses for every production so far. One of the draws may be the complimentary wine and cheese reception held before each performance. This time we will be having a matinee and an evening performance. Our other activities include attending the many other small theatre performances being staged in the area. There is so much truly satisfying theatre being performed in the Pass Area. We go as a group and enjoy group rates making it more economical.
