Bunco Bunco will be March 8 and 22. We have a lot of fun and if you havent tried it you should. Last month, we had Bunco in the midst of a snow storm and to our surprise we still had seven tables with 28 ladies. So grab a friend or neighbor and come and join us in the card room at 1 pm sharp. Dont forget to stop by Smittys for a drink or maybe even lunch. See you there. ~ Cheryl Burke & Suzanne Roldan Bridge Join us on Monday afternoons, 12 to 4 pm, for an exciting game of Bridge in the Lodge Card Room. It will give the brain some exercise and we can all use that at our age. We play party type of a Bridge game where we rotate partners. This enables you to meet and play with different people. All of us play at different levels and are learning how to play the game better. We are looking for more players and will start a beginners and refresher class the first of March. The class will start at 11 am in the morning and will go until 12 pm before our normal Bridge games. If interested or have questions please call Helen at (951) 845-9312. Both Helen and I will be glad to help you learn the basics of the game and hope that you will join us afterward to either watch or play. ~ Bill Guy Taste dVine Canasta #1 Come join us for an afternoon of friendship and fun while playing a game of Hand and Foot Canasta. We meet in the Card Room every Thursday afternoon, 1:15 to 4 pm. Each week you may play with someone different which gives you an opportunity to meet your fellow Four Season residents and old friends who enjoy an afternoon of cool cards. It is also handy to have the Bistro just down the hall if you would like something to snack on or a cold drink. We supply the cards so all you have to bring is your body and the desire to have a little fun. If you dont know how to play we are always happy to set up a teaching table and by the time the afternoon is over you have mastered the game. All you have to do is show up and leave the rest to us. ~ Melody Seewoster 28 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2013 | clubs & Groups Our March meeting will be March 28, at 6 pm, instead of the usual third Thursday of the month. The Taste of the Pass Event, sponsored by the San Gorgonio Rotary to raise funds for scholarships and youth programs will be held in the Four Seasons Ballroom on our regular meeting date. We encourage you to attend the event this year, for good food, good wine and a great cause. This month we change to daylight savings time, welcome spring and also observe Easter and Passover. There are many wines that bridge winter to spring. Come join us on the March 28. Bring your wine glasses and a bottle of wine, if you want to share. Also bring a dish for our potluck. Since our wine club has grown so much, please bring enough to serve at least eight people, or you can purchase appetizers or pizzas from Smitty. Call for more information, (951) 769-9858. ~ Anita Worthen Toastmasters Interest Group We are happy to announce that Four Seasons Beaumont has had a new Toastmasters International Interest Group up and running since mid January, 2013. Have you ever thought, after the fact, Oh if only I had said Do you feel uncomfortable talking in front of crowds? Or even in front of more than 5 people? Do you feel self-conscience when you are at a party with a lot of people you dont know? When talking to someone of importance, do you feel inhibited? When in a large group setting, do you become shy when it comes to asking questions? Do you enjoy public speaking and want to enhance your skills? When speaking to others, do you have trouble making yourself understood? Book Club This months book is The Association, by Pam Sutton, a fun read for anyone living in an HOA. The security of Sam Bells gated community is jeopardized when a neighbor dies under bizarre circumstances. Then there is a grotesque discovery in the root cellar of an abandoned abbey located within the community. What changed the quiet streets of the Glenn Abbey Home Owners Association to a place of fear? Could it have something to do with the escalating battle over rule enforcement and civil liberties that began as a small disagreement between Sam and the association and became a tangle of deception? Or could a chilling secret from association board member Patty If you answered yes to any of those questions, Toastmasters International would benefit you. The group meets weekly on Wednesdays, alternating between 1 pm and 6:30 pm, so those residents who still work can attend meetings. There is no requirement that member attend every weekly meeting. Toastmasters will give you the skills and confidence you need to effectively express yourself in any situation. You will be more persuasive and confident and youll improve your one on one dealings with others. Being a new interest group, we would love to grow our membership to include you, our friends and neighbors. To achieve this goal, if you are not 100 percent positive that Toastmasters is for you, we will be hosting open houses at each of March meetings. Please come 15 minutes early, if possible, so someone can explain to you how the meeting is run and what you can expect to see. We do hope that you will stop by to see why Toastmasters should be a part of your life. ~ Teri Meyers-Kelman Lippets past explain the change and her hatred of Sam and friends on Carousel Circle? What did anyone know about her reality, and why was she trying to silence them? As the truth emerges, association rules collide with residents in a freedom versus security dispute. Sam, his wife Alba, and their friends on Carousel Circle decide to fight the association over this issue. Once this decision is made, their lives zigzag from uproarious protest demonstrations to media involvement, hair-raising escapes, murder, and a make or break trial. Even though Alba knows the odds of defeating the powerful association are against them, Sams feisty attorney wife agrees to represent Sam and friends in the pending trial. Meanwhile, Patty Lippet lurks in the boardroom and streets of Glenn Abbey and decisions are made which lead to danger for Sam and his neighbors and ultimately places their lives in the balance. Join us at our next Book Club meeting at the Lodge on Tuesday, March 12, at 9:30 am for an in-depth discussion of this interesting book and author we look forward to seeing you then. Also mark your calendar for April 9, when we will be discussing Sacre Bleu by Christopher Moore. For more information about our club, please call our president, Doreen Sanders, at (951) 769-1913. ~ Jeannine Lutz. CLUBS & GROUPS | FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2013 29
