FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2019 61 Three-Thirteen Hey everyone! There are two new champions – Floyd Reid and Loretta Cousar in the house. They have set a new record and managed to pull off an impressive win by scoring four Bostons in one night! Now the challenge is on to beat this new record in one night. In addition, we hosted a fabulous potluck on April 29. We served up a wide variety of home cooked food – baked/fried chicken and fish, ribs, cooked green beans, collard greens with corn muffins, macaroni and cheese, yams, baked beans, dinner rolls and a variety of salads (pasta, potato and vegetable). We topped it off with peach cobbler, sweet potato pie and cake. It was 'finger licking' good and thoroughly satisfying. After much eating and drinking, we still managed to play cards (big smile!) and have great fun in the process. Do come out sometime and join us to learn bid whist and/or 'to get your bid game on.' We offer a satisfying game environment filled with good cheer, good natured 'trash talking,' and some great music. And, win or lose… you will have a lot of fun and meet some great folks while playing bid whist. New players, whether new to the game or veterans, are always welcome. We meet every Monday (except major holidays) from 6 to 8:30 pm in the RCN Building, Activity Room 3. For more information, contact Roxanne (951) 797-3123 or Floyd (951) 317-3127). ~ Roxanne Williams Co-ed Bid Whist Dominoes We have a lot of great domino players in the Domino Group, and the competition is very fierce and serious. In fact, we have three domino champions for the month of April, due to the outstanding level of domino playing! The "Three Amigos" who won were Dean Delaney, Vernon Bell and Dewey Allen. They tied with 18 game wins. There was not enough time for a playoff among them. Better luck next time Vernon, you put up a good fight but you dropped your sword after the battle started. Congratulations to all of the April champs. Dominos are played every Wednesday and Friday from 5 to 9 pm in The Lodge Game Room. Practice is from 5 to 6 pm on both days. Join us, have some fun, and make some new friends. Jesse Dimmer is usually available to give you help and tips on the game if needed. For more information, call Jesse at (951) 769-2035 or Reggie at (951) 769-6483. ~ Marvin Gaines Three-thirteen is played in 11 rounds. A cross between rummy and Phase 10, players meld, using sets and runs. The first player to go out receives no points. Then players have an opportunity to play on the cards laid down and their own cards. Each round uses a progressive, new wild card. There are not a lot of rules to remember, and most people say the difficult part is remembering what round they are on! The lowest score wins. Recent winners with the three lowest scores were Caryn McSweeney with 38, John Clark, 49, and Andy Lunetta with 51. Winners at other tables with higher scores included Bre Moreland, Barbara Dipoma, Linda Clark, Cheri Howard, Frances Monahan, and Jerry Monahan. Anyone interested in playing this fast-paced game, we are at The Lodge Game Room from 3 to 5 pm on the first and third Tuesdays of the month.
