62 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2019
The new replacement fabric on the billiard tables has taken a while to
get used to. The balls run so much faster, so some anticipated shots do not
make the designated pockets. There are definite adjustments to be made by
all members, but we sure have fun doing it! It's been a challenge for all of us
to hurry and get used to the tables; on May 7 we held our second quarterly
in-house tournament of 2019. It was so much fun to watch the good-natured
competition and to watch each member's increased billiard skills. BFFG has
been going strong for almost 10 years now, and it's obvious to see by the level of
playing skill the members exhibit that the years of practice have paid off. The
amazing players were a tad more careful with each shot because of the new table
coverings, and because they wanted to win. The winning partnership from
the morning session was Bob Becker and Bob Rector. The afternoon session
winner was Johnny Ramirez (who played ghost because we had an uneven
number of players). After a nail-biting playoff, the winners of the day were first
place: Johnny Ramirez and second place: Bob Becker and Bob Rector. (See
adjacent photos of our winners.) Kudos to all the players who participated,
showing such kindness, enthusiasm and encouragement to each other.
We have a really great group of people comprising Billiards for Fun Group
who enjoy the game of billiards and are supportive of the group. C'mon and
join us for formal play on Tuesdays at either the 11 am or 1 pm sessions. We'll
be looking for you. (BTW, we also have an informal practice on Saturdays in
the same time slots open to all residents.) Come join us. You won't regret it. ~
