FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2019 63 The 8-Ball Club holds two in-house tournaments each month: an 8-Ball tournament and a 9-Ball tournament. Most months we play four additional tournaments: two away and two at home with Hemet (Solera) twice and Cherry Valley (Solera) twice. This month had April storms, with Robert Howard providing the lighting by winning both the 8-Ball and the 9-Ball in-house tournaments. Light showers were provided by Leo Babin in the 8-Ball in-house tournament, and Larry Rice in the 9-Ball in-house tournament. Congratulations to our 8-Ball champion, Robert Howard, and runner up Leo Babin and congratulations to our 9-Ball champion, Robert Howard, and runner up Larry Rice. Of special note is the recovering of the four billiard/pool tables, a real professional job with great cloth. So much fun to play on. Everything was done first rate. Thanks to the facilities committee and everyone involved in picking the right contractors and materials. Also, a special thanks to Rocket Spinosa, who took a special interest and watched over the process from start to finish. He kept an eye on the process and even treated the contractors to lunch. Everyone working together for a fantastic result. The 8-Ball Club puts out a big welcome to our new member, David Martin, and cheerleader, Teri Martin. The 8-Ball Club is always looking for new players. The club plays or practices Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights from 6 to 9 pm. There is a calendar of our events in the Billiards Room on the 8-Ball Club bulletin board. Come out for the fun and give us a try. 8-Ball Club Officers: Captain Del Lyles, Sr. (951) 845-5114, Co- Captain Larry Rice (951) 236-1156. ~ Larry Rice The 8-Ball Club Where has the time and the sunshine gone? I can't believe it's already June. Curly Cues is a fun group of ladies who enjoys the game of pool. Whether you are an experienced player, or have never picked up a cue stick but would like to learn, we invite you to come join us. We play Mondays from 11 am to 1 pm. We pull peas for partners so you have a different partner every week. This makes it a level playing field for all and avoids cliques. There is lots of chatter and laughter with this group of ladies. Once every quarter we have a luncheon (at a restaurant of course) because we like to have a cocktail and enjoy the afternoon together. Our next luncheon will be held on June 10. We also have a quarterly tournament in which the winners' names are proudly displayed on our Curly Cue plaque, which is hung in the Billiard Room. Our second quarter tournament was held on May 6, and the winners are pictured at right. If you have questions or would like to join, just stop by on any Monday or contact Leta Ramirez at (626) 695-0798 or Pat Semler at (714) 325-5280. ~ Leta and Pat Curly Cues 1st Place (L-R) Pat Semler and Leta Ramirez 2nd Place (L-R) Alex Vanhoose and Bonnie McKenna 8-Ball - Runner up Leo Babin and Champion Robert Howard 9-Ball – Runner up Larry Rice and Champion Robert Howard
