| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JUNE 2019 | 27 We meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 am and class is free. Getting to know us better: Fred and Cherrie Rau: Cherrie shares, "I was born in Denver, Colorado. I was working for Diner's Club making credit cards when Fred and I decided to move to Arizona where my sister lives. In Arizona, I worked for a mental health clinic as a data processing supervisor. Fred got a job offer in California and we moved to California in 1991 and I retired at that time." Fred shares, "I was reluctant, at first, to become the only male in SASY, but I've come to really enjoy my mornings with my "harem" of 15 and some of the nicest women you could ever meet. I'm a retired magazine editor, and a semi-retired writer who still pens a magazine story or two each month. I also own a small travel company through which I organize and lead guided motorcycle tours through New Zealand each year. Cherrie and I have been married for 48 years, and have traveled more than 1.5 million miles aboard various motorcycles." We will be sharing other team members over the next few months. SASY consists of 12 strength training "moves." We focus on arms, legs, and torso. All exercises are done slowly and with a chair for balance support. The class is 30 minutes long. Come join us. We do start early – really the best part of the day! If you have questions regarding this class, please call Jeanne Lincoln at (951) 765-7112, Char Weakley at (951) 926-2599 or Joyce Kerns at (951) 325-8840. Strong Adults Stay Young (SASY) Healthy Living Exercise has powerful health benefits. It can lower your risk of many diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis and some cancers. In fact, people who work out on a regular basis are thought to have up to a 50 percent lower risk of dying from many of these illnesses. Exercise is also incredibly good for your mental health, and it can help you manage stress and unwind. Keep this in mind when you consider the effects of exercise. Even if it isn't effective for weight loss, it still has other benefits that are just as important (if not more). BOTTOM LINE: Exercise is about way more than just weight loss. It has various powerful benefits for your body and brain. The Healthy Living Club honors and remembers one of its special people who we carry in our hearts always. Jane Pearce was a member of this team for many years and was a wonderful example of eating right and making sure exercise was part of her day. She passed away on April 16, 2019 at the age of 97! We miss you, dear friend. We encourage you to come and visit with us. This club is free and we delight in encouraging our team members to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Please join us every Wednesday at 9 am in the Multipurpose Room. Thank you. ~ Dave & Karen Tuvim, (951) 599-4236. Fred and Cherrie Rau
