| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JUNE 2019 | 29 The BOCCES (KISSES) keep coming this season! A Bocce occurs when a red or green ball touches the pallino so closely that a dollar bill cannot slide between! It is worth two points. There have been seven during this 2019 Season. The FINAL games on May 30 may bring some more Bocces. Those updated numbers and the winners for this season will be in the July Herald. Finals will be held May 30, beginning at 9 am. Orville will be sending out the schedule prior to that date. A cheering section is appreciated by all the players! Our Awards Banquet in the Ballroom is scheduled for June 27, at 5 pm. The cost for guests is yet to be determined. There will be a Bocce Committee meeting on Fri., June 7 at 10 am in the Conference Room. We will discuss some changes for the 2020 season and finalize the banquet plans. Remember any resident of Four Seasons may sign out the Bocce equipment and play at any time. The Lodge attendant will be happy to assist you. They will take you to the SPA building where the older equipment is stored and give it to you for your use. You would then return the bag to the door of the storage area and let the attendant know that you are finished. They will put it back at their leisure. If you are new to the game and would like some coaching, please contact me to set up a day and time. For info contact Sue Malarkey, (951) 223-3056, suem86301@gmail.com or csm86301@aol.com. The 2019 season of Four Seasons Shuffleboard will begin on Sept. 5 and continue for a total of 10 weeks. Sign-ups will be on Thurs., Aug. 22 at 1 pm in the Lodge Ballroom. There is a group who are practicing most Monday and Friday mornings. They start at approximately 9 am and play for about one to two hours. Come out and join them, they are great teachers for anyone new to the game. This is a fun sport, easy to learn and easy on the joints! If that does not work for you, please call me and we can get together at a more convenient time for you. Any resident can check out the equipment to practice. The Lodge attendant will take you to the courts and unlock the cabinet. You will receive the number of cues needed for the number of people playing, the set of yellow and black discs, one shaker of premixed beads to spread on the court and the broom to sweep the court before and after you play. Please do not walk on the diamond finished courts, they can be slippery even before you spread the beads. The Lodge attendant will then re-lock the cabinet. When you are finished playing, just leave all the above items in front of the cabinet and let the attendant know, as you leave the Lodge, that you are finished and they can return the equipment used to the cabinet at their leisure. Thanks, Sue Malarkey (951) 223-3056, suem86301@gmail.com or csm86301@aol.com. Shuffleboard Bocce Dennis Harris, Italian Potluck raffle winner Which is closer, the red or the green??
