FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JULY 2019 39
Counter Culture Cinema
We show films you generally won't find at the Cineplex:
documentaries, foreign language films, indie films and any other
smaller, well-reviewed films that don't get wide distribution.
Our first monthly screening, on Sunday, July 14 at 6 pm, is the film
Where to Invade Next (USA 2015, 1 hr. 50 min., English). Here is a
brief description from IMDb.com: "To show what the USA can learn
from rest of the world, director Michael Moore playfully visits various
nations in Europe and Africa as a one-man "invader" to take their
ideas and practices for America. Whether it is Italy with its generous
vacation time allotments, France with its gourmet school lunches,
Germany with its industrial policy, Norway and its prison system,
Tunisia and its strongly progressive women's policy, or Iceland
and its strong female presence in government and business among
others, Michael Moore discovers there is much that Americans
should emulate."
Our second monthly screening, on Sun., July 28 at 6 pm, is the film
Let the Sunshine In (France 2017, 1 hr. 34 min., English subtitles).
Here is a brief description from Rotten Tomatoes: "Juliette Binoche
delivers a luminous performance in the deliciously witty, sensuously
romantic film from acclaimed director Claire Denis. Isabelle
(Binoche) is a divorced Parisian painter searching for another shot at
love, but refusing to settle for the parade of all-too-flawed men who
drift in and out of her life."
All of our screenings are followed by lively discussion about the
film; we'd love to have you join us. The Lodge Theatre has very
limited seating, so if you're interested in our screenings, come early.
We hope to see you there. Please note that all films announced are
subject to availability. If you have any questions about the Counter
Culture Cinema Club, or want to recommend a film, please email
