10 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JULY 2019 | Facilities Committee Doug White, Secretary and a 12 year veteran of the Facilities Committee, has resigned from the committee. He and his wife will be moving to another 55+ community in Nashville to be near family. The committee and indeed, all of Four Seasons, owe them a debt of gratitude for his years of exemplary service. Best wishes to them and our hopes for a safe, speedy and carefree transition to their new home. We will miss them. Asphalt work continues on the streets and parking lots. Watch for email notifications, signs on the street or postings at the Lodge. Please don't forget to shut off your sprinklers the night before if your street is scheduled for asphalt work. You may turn them back on the afternoon of the following day. This is very important for the successful bonding of the treatment. A request to purchase replacement boards for the wood and iron benches in the common areas has been submitted to the Board of Directors. Many of the existing boards are becoming unsightly due to their age and exposure to the elements. If approved, the benches will be upgraded with new boards about 10 at a time. Other projects including replacement of chaise lounge chairs in the pool area, resurfacing of the pool deck, and an EMWD reclaimed water project are in the works Have a wonderful summer. Get ready to have a blast July 4th on the Lodge patio. Doors open at 5 pm and dinner is served from 5:30 to 7 pm. Entertainment by Psycohbillies starts at 7 pm. Games and photo opportunities are included. Our menu is your choice of a hot dog, hamburger, turkey burger, or veggie burger. Chili and assorted chips included with apple cobbler for dessert. To save repairing your door hinges, door knobs, and your garage door rollers and hinges, spray them at least once a year with WD -40. Yes, they can rust or become clogged with dirt. Most WD -40 cans come with an attached spray-straw. Lift up straw and point it at the top of all your door hinges. A quick one- second spray is all you need. I suggest you hold a paper towel at the bottom of the hinge to prevent the liquid from running down the door. After spraying, swing the door open and close. Also spray the door knobs where the bolt comes out as you turn the knob. Then spray into the key hole also. As for your garage door first spray all the hinges across the top of them and at the ends. Next, spray each roller-wheel where they are enclosed in a tub and at the base of the wheel. Then open and close the door two times. Emergency preparedness committee Emergency Preparedness Committee meets on the third Monday of the month at 9:30 am. Our Emergency Preparedness Committee members are: Jim Hatcher and Greg Rockvam, BOD Liaison; Paul O'Neill, Chair; Sharon Schneider, Dan Kopp, Clarence Venable, Gary Marsalone, Dennis Harris, Woody Lane, Sue Malarkey, Robert Scroop. Our Mission: The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program is designed to increase individual and community preparedness and self-reliance in the event of man-made or natural disasters. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has officially recognized CERT as an important part of a community's disaster preparedness readiness. In the Four Seasons at Hemet community, we have our own group of volunteers, many of whom are certified in CERT training, who will activate in the event of a disaster. While this group is concerned with our community, it coordinates with the city of Hemet Fire/EMS department, the county of Riverside, and FEMA. Before disaster strikes, Four Seasons Cert will encourage and instruct members of our community in preparedness for a disaster or personal emergency. Four Seasons CERT continues to need your participation. Become a Street Captain or CERT Auxiliary. Step up. Be a part of the best CERT in the valley, come make a difference. For more information visit https://fscert.org/cert-volunteer. We need your help! On Mon., June 24 our Street Captains visited homes in Four Seasons to provide "OK/Help Needed" signs for you to store in your window and use during a disaster. If the Street Captain did not make it to your home, he/she will return. Please answer the door to them. They will probably be wearing a green vest. Most of all, display the blank green sign in your window, otherwise, you might find our members pestering you. We are relentless. Plan. Prepare. Survive. Thanks to all of the participants in our Four Seasons CERT events.
