| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JULY 2019 | 13 Welcome to your Four Seasons beautiful library! It is created by you, the residents, and maintained by a committee that loves both Four Seasons and books. We are avid readers and are constantly recommending books to each other. Our book reports in the newsletters are our way of recommending favorites to you. You keep us pretty busy and we appreciate you. June had Father's Day to celebrate. A great reason to buy a book and donate it to our library. July we celebrate America! It's the perfect time to purchase a non-fiction book about our history, read it and then add it to our collection. We have some great non-fiction books and we encourage you to peruse the top shelves to see our great selection. We have an "easy reach" gadget to help you take one down. Please do not stand on chairs! Please donate your May, June and July 2019 magazines to our library to be displayed at this time. For the first time ever we are over whelmed by the amount of National Geographic magazines in our library. Please hold off on their donations for a while. Remember we do take all other magazines, any month or year, to the downtown library. They are displayed and given free to the community. Four Seasons is always involved in helping our communities. We are displaying paperback books from the years 2014-2019. The shelves are pretty tight. We would like to ask that you do not put your paperback books away. It's understandable to want a favorite book displayed, no matter the date, but our rules exist for the library to run smoothly. We have books to put out that we don't have room for. Just place your paperbacks in the return basket. We'll do the rest. Hardbound fiction books are displayed from 2010-2019. We have a great selection of popular books. Many residents check the library often for a certain book and wait forever for one to be returned. We understand lending one to a friend after you've read it but it shouldn't go on to others indefinitely. Please bring the books back in a timely fashion. Though we will not meet formally in July and August, you will see us in the library doing our thing all through the summer. We may have a small meeting or email conversation to discuss a situation but there are too many vacations to work around for meetings. We will also be planning our Author's talk in September. We have a copy of the paperback The Tainted Legacy of Bertha Gifford by Kay Murphy, in the library. It's really worth reading and you will form your opinion on whether Bertha, was in fact, a serial killer. I have my opinion! Blair still keeps us on our toes with his humor. We hope you have been enjoying "thoughts from Blair," "Why didn't the thief burgle the library? Because he was afraid the judge would give him a long sentence." A reminder, the library door is to remain open at all times. There is also no drinking or eating in the library. The committee members are all volunteers, not staff. Thank you. Committee member Anita Decker read Where the Bullets Fly: A Sheriff Aaron Mackey Western The Van Dorns and Mr. Rice, railroad mongols and investors from back east, come to Dover station, Montana just after Sheriff Mackey and his Deputy Billy had to shoot it out with five rabble rousers. The sheriff prevailed and the others got planted in what they refer to as "Mackey's Garden" on boot hill. If that's not enough for the sheriff to handle he had to contend with a cutthroat boss of the men he killed – he is out for vengeance and as blood thirsty as they come. With the mayor in an uproar about trying to present the town in a good light Mackey must protect its citizens from the crazed outlaws, contend with a newspaper editor who wants to spin a different story, his father who never thinks he makes the right decisions and a wife longing for a better life than the one in the wildest. Jam packed with action this is the first in a blazing new series. Library Committee Summer is here and with it a change in our committee. We say goodbye to Brenda Billson, who has been a long-time member of our committee. Thank you, Brenda, for your dedication to helping make Four Seasons a beautiful place to live in. We welcome Mark Nelson, and thank him now for his energy and commitment to the Landscape Committee. This month we focus on the "Legends" also known as the Special Benefits Area (SBA) of our community. The individual front yard landscape areas are planted and maintained by the Homeowner's Association to provide a pleasing and cohesive visual accent to the homes within the Legends neighborhoods of our community. New members moving into the Legends may not always know what to do when there have been questions about landscaping and/or plants that need attention in front of their home. It is important that residents in the Legends not take it upon themselves to trim, install or remove plants. If you have a concern about the landscaping in front of your home, contact the Lodge and fill out a Landscape Maintenance Request. Service requests will be handled in a timely manner. Plantings, trees, rock and similar requests will be reviewed by the Landscape Committee for action. While the Legends landscape areas are maintained by the Association, other residents may add "annual color" that meets the criteria as established in the Architectural Standards and Regulations (page 25). Be sure to review the standards and/or check with the Lodge when adding annual color. The Landscape Committee meets the first Wednesday of the month at 1 pm at the Lodge. Residents are welcome to attend. Landscape Committee
