| OHCC LIVING | JULY 2019 | 9 Welcome to July! It is the perfect month to enjoy your patio, sip some iced tea, and dive into a good book. Come by the library and pick up a book. The library has quite a diverse collection of non-fiction books. One such book is My Own Words by Ruth Bader Ginsburg (along with her authorized biographers Mary Hartnett and Wendy W. Williams). Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been much in the news lately with movies and books about her. My Own Words, published in 2016, is her first book since becoming a Supreme Court Justice. A collection of fascinating writings, the book contains a plethora of Ginsberg's thoughts. It spans articles, tributes, and opinions from Ginsburg's 1946 elementary public school paper editorial to her 2015 dissenting opinions on the Supreme Court. Topics from gender equality and being Jewish to the workings of the Supreme Court make this book an incredibly interesting read and a valuable insight into this Supreme Court Justice. The book is in the library's non-fiction shelves that are open to all community members. Save The Date: Sun., July 21, at 2 pm in the library. The Library in collaboration with the Theater Arts group will present several readings, short stories, and poems to delight you, make you laugh, and make you think. This is a Reading for Adults Only Program. Reminder: Our next book talk is Sat., Nov. 16, at 1 pm in the Mykonos Room. You must be a library member to attend. If you are not a member, it is not too late to become one. The cost is $15 per household per year. The library is open for checkout of reserved books on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 am to 12 pm and Tuesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 pm. "My mother told me two things constantly. One was to be a lady, and the other was to be independent." ~ Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Ginsburg credits her mother for emphasizing the importance of education and taking her to libraries while growing up.
