Have a fantastic Fourth of July! This month we celebrate "We Love Our Clubhouse." For those that are new to OHCC we recognize how much the community enjoys their Clubhouse. With 7,114 reservations scheduled in the first half of this year, and a total of 12,517 reservations on the books, so far, it is evident that the Clubhouse is the 'hubbub' for all planning, playing and partying. For this month of recognition, the staff will find ways to surprise those that visit. We have been known to provide donuts, French bread loaves, popsicles, and games . So be on the look-out for something unusual and unexpected. We will end the month with our Annual Ice Cream Social on Fri., July 26 at 2 pm. The 4th of July Flamingle, sponsored by the Recreation Department, is fast approaching and we are looking forward to the poolside affair. We hope to report those that were the winners in our patriotic attire contest. We gave out a drone last year to two adorable sisters, both of which were in their 90s. They were somewhat befuddled, by the equipment, but proceeded to smile and, then, said that their family would help them figure it out. Has anyone seen one flying over? The 35th Anniversary Books are still available to purchase at $15 each. The Front Desk staff has called all the individuals that were photographed, who have yet, to pick up their copy. It certainly is a coffee table conversation piece, when friends and family come to visit. Kaiser Permanente Senior Advantage will host a Lunch and Lecture on Thurs., Aug. 23. A flyer is in this publication for more information. Dr. Eugene Rhee will be our guest, speaking on urology concerns. Tickets for the lunch will be distributed beginning July 1 at the Clubhouse Front Desk. This event is sponsored by the Community Services Committee. In September, the CSC is planning an informative meeting with several professionals speaking about volunteering, classes and programs at the El Corazon Senior Center, and senior transportation options. This is scheduled for Wed., Sept. 18 at 4 pm. Mark this on your calendar! In the last few months several classes have been added to the Clubhouse activity calendar. Leesa Singer is teaching "Dual Depth Aqua" on Fridays at 9 am. Coach Dori is offering classes "Movement Restoration" on Thursdays. A Parkinson's Support Group meets the third Friday of the month at 4:15 pm in the Art Room. Class half- sheets describing class content are located on the wall across from the Clubhouse Front Desk. There is so much to do, we often wonder how does one do it all? Happy 4th of July to 'ya all. We hope to see you in the Clubhouse! "You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4th, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism." ~ Erma Bombeck Recreation News By Chris Bessey, Recreation Director | OHCC LIVING | JULY 2019 |25 Due to the popularity of our facility, we highly recommend calling the front desk at (760) 758-8772 to check on availability. The majority of our 2019 reservations (over 12,500) were made during the last quarter of 2018. The demand is so high that most of the card players will be sharing the rooms in the Clubhouse. It's a great way to get to know those with similar interests. It truly is a happening place, inside and out. CLUBHOUSE USAGE
