28 | OHCC LIVING | JULY 2019 | Papercrafting Club The annual Make-and-Take Card Camp was held on Thurs., June 13 in the Mykonos Room. Three techniques were shared with participants including working with watercolor crystals on card backgrounds, brilliant alcohol ink designs on glossy paper and distress oxide inks on card stock. All products used created magic with a spritz of water or blending solution. Three tables of papercrafters rotated as each method was introduced until all three techniques were competed and beautiful creations were in hand. Rhonda Anchales and Jan Malone demonstrated the use of "Brushos," which is a brand of watercolor crystals used to produce dazzling bursts of color on paper. Shellie Bean displayed her beautiful alcohol ink card creations and showed the group how to create breathtaking designs using an alcohol blending solution. Lolo Kleeman, who also chaired the event, shared the process of using distress oxide inks on background stamps to design a stunning card. Club members are looking forward to the next event, which will be held on Aug. 2. Once again, Jan Malone is organizing the annual Craft Room Tour. Five club members will open their homes to small groups of members who will view their host's crafting area. Each space is unique and will provide an opportunity for members to glean new ideas and learn new tricks for organizing and storing their crafting supplies. Meanwhile, four groups of talented Papercrafting Club members continue to meet weekly in the Art Room where they enjoy socializing and sharing techniques designed to improve their card making skills. As always, we appreciate the volunteers who head the Leadership Team, the group leaders, event planners, and class presenters. Their time and efforts make our club a success. Residents who are interested in joining the club may leave a $10 check, along with their contact information, in an envelope marked Papercrating Club at the front desk of the clubhouse. Our Membership Director, Karen Lohr, will contact them and provide further information about the club.
