By Tom Bird, Resident The Pickleball Club held a men's tournament at our courts on June 14. There were 10 men making up five teams. The teams were split into A and B players, and then got partners in a blind drawing. Each team played four games, and the two top teams played two more games to decide the winning team. The winners were Bob Porter and Ted Delker. Phillip Brealey and Joe Costello were runners-up. The Pickleball Club has plans for several more tournaments, and several fun get- togethers. 12 SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | AUGUST 2019 Quilter Luncheon By Jo Anne Krebs, Resident The SDV Quilting Club is celebrating its 10 year anniversary. Of the original roster of 12 dedicated quilters, there are two who are still active today and our membership has grown to 47 members. During the last 18 months our members have produced 14 Quilts of Valor (with 12 more in progress for November 2019), made about 30 quilts for children, and organized a drive to collect small gently used suitcases. The children's quilts and suitcases will all go to Child Help, a local organization that helps abused children. All of this on top of many, many personal quilt creations. WOW! Busy quilters! To thank our members for a successful year of fundraising and quilt making, the board organized a very special day for all of our members. The day began with a trunk show by Monica of Monica's Quilts and Beads, from Palm Desert. She shared many wonderful quilting and crafting ideas with us and unveiled a wealth of wonderful quilt/craft related ideas from her shop. Following this fun event, the members enjoyed a wonderful lunch, catered by Carlos, with a delightful dessert created by our own treasurer, Elaine Giometti. The day wrapped up with some exceptional door prizes, including the beautiful table centerpieces. Pickleball Men's Doubles
