The calendar says it's summertime, and here we are! The continued cool weather has kept our water and electric bills down, and water temps are finally rising; it's a beautiful time to be here in Southern California. For Ocean Hills Country Club residents, along with summer comes the Master Association's Board of Directors elections, and we are in full swing! We had a great turnout at the Candidates Forum on July 15 (260+), and the ballots were mailed out on the same date. Thanks to Regina Aulisio and her team for developing a great list of questions and moderating the event, much appreciated! Be sure to mark your calendars for the Annual Membership Meeting on Aug. 15. Now is your opportunity to select the next four Directors to serve this community. Every vote counts so be sure to VOTE! Onward and upward: We are very proud to announce the promotion of Kathy Guzman to Associate Community Manager! Kathy will support Community Manager Robyn Dawson with the 8 Village Boards and assist with resident requests. We love to promote from within and are also very pleased to move Blanca Torres Reyes to fill Kathy's role as Administrative Assistant to handle new resident orientations, work with the Citation Review and Audio/Visual Committees, manage the RV Lot assignments, and assist HOA staff members and residents as needed. Congratulations Kathy and Blanca! SPOTLIGHT: It is truly my honor to highlight staff member Fernando Cruz Ortega! Fernando is the Facilities Lead at the Clubhouse and works Monday through Friday. He oversees setups and breakdowns and has grown in his knowledge of the presentation system and digital equipment; Fernando is quite familiar with it all. We really appreciate that Fernando is a hard worker, liked by everyone who has the pleasure of knowing him, and has a great deal of patience. Chris Bessey tells me if you ask Fernando, it will be done right! Fernando came to California in 1990 at the age of 16 with his Dad, who went back to Mexico after a year and left Fernando here with his uncle so he could have a better life. As time passed by, Fernando became an adult and worked hard to help his parents. In 2001, Fernando met his wife, Veronica, and they now have two kids, Yessenia and Fernando. Fernando started working part time at the Clubhouse in 2008 and became full time shortly thereafter. Fernando says, "I'm enjoying working with my co-workers because they are nice people and our priority is to please everyone at the Clubhouse." Fernando, thank you for your continued great work and excellent customer service! 4 | OHCC LIVING | AUGUST 2019 | General Manager's Message By Wendy Panizza CJ Palmer, City of Oceanside Parks & Recreation, Program Specialist.
