Do you remember the joie de vivre, the happy-to-be-alive feeling, the sweetness, the innocence, the vulnerability, the LOVE of being young, of stepping out into an unknown world, open to all its pleasures and all of its pains? For most of us these are times far gone, and rarely accessed except to note the difficulties or the pleasures of that time. What is alluded to here is something totally different: we are actually accessing the feeling of being young. This is an intangible, and will be different for everyone, but surely everyone has had that feeling. In my case, this feeling was happening in my late teen years. I was self-aware and reveling in my youthfulness. But that is not to say that there were not moments of experiencing the Eternal before that time, for there were, but this was difference. There was the cognizance of the Form (the body and mind) but the Form did not interfere with the glorious experience of happy-to-be-alive! The body was young and ailment-free and the mind pure and they were beautiful because they were at that time more closely aligned with spirit, to the essence of our Being. We had not yet traversed the worldly dream and become tarnished by it. We were pure Being at that time. So the years have passed and we draw back and reflect and feel again the reimmergence of Spirit – of eternal youth, for really that is what Enlightenment is - returning back and remembering again that pure innocence, that which we have always been and that which we will always be. Yes, the body has its ailments now, but the promise of Enlightenment is that once the being no longer identifies with a separate self, ailments are far lessoned and our original and everlasting true nature shines brightly again. Satsang (group meeting with a spiritual aim) begins with a 30 minute meditation (15 minutes if new people are present) followed by a discourse and a short video presentation offered by a teacher adhering to the teaching of Non-Duality. As always, questions are warmly encouraged. We meet in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room on Sundays from 11:30 am to 1 pm. This is a free offering. My background includes 30 years of formal spiritual practice under the guidance of two masters and 10 years of teaching (eight at Sun Lakes). You need not bring anything except an open mind.
