| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | SEPTEMBER 2019 | 27 Getting to know us better. "I am Mary Bowe. I am a creative person, a dreamer, currently working on Illustrative Journaling. Why would you be reading about me in the SASY group? Well, I believe that everyone has some creativity and that keeping your body synchronized and stable brings out that natural creative gene. I joined SASY to help me keep myself in balance and harmony. The simple stretching exercise routine we follow centers on this goal. "As for my background, I was born in a rural Missouri farm town, grew up in southern California, and spent my working life in administrative positions in the Human Resource field. Since retiring in 2004 and moving to Four Seasons, I have written and illustrated three children's books, and have continued to pursue my love of making my own clothing accessories. In 2008 I met and later married my soul mate. I am truly blessed." SASY consists of 12 strength training "moves." We focus on arms, legs, and torso. All exercises are done slowly and with a chair for balance support. The class is 30 minutes long. Come join us. We do start early – really the best part of the day! If you have questions regarding this class, please call Jeanne Lincoln at (951) 765-7112, Char Weakley at (951) 926-2599 or Joyce Kerns at (951) 325-8840. Strong Adults Stay Young (SASY) Healthy Living The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends that everyone practice monthly head-to-toe self-examination of their skin, so that they can find any new or changing lesions that might be cancerous or precancerous. Skin cancers found and removed early are almost always curable. Learn about the warnings signs of skin cancer and what to look for during a self-examination. If you spot anything suspicious, see a doctor. Performed regularly, self-examination can alert you to changes in your skin and aid in the early detection of skin cancer. It should be done often enough to become a habit, but not so often as to feel like a bother. For most people, once a month is ideal, but ask your doctor if you should do more frequent checks. You may find it helpful to have a doctor do a full-body exam first, to assure you that any existing spots, freckles, or moles are normal or treat any that may not be. After the first few times, self-examination should take no more than 10 minutes – a small investment in what could be a life-saving procedure. Healthy Living focuses on developing a healthy lifestyle that hopefully lasts a lifetime. Please join us every Wednesday at 9 am in the Multipurpose Room. If you have any questions, please call Dave and Karen Tuvim (951) 599-4236. We will be introducing Healthy Living members (albeit from their early years) over the months ahead. We will not identify them until the following month. We think this should be fun. The August Herald featured Team Member: Jeanne Lincoln. Happy Campers RV Club The Four Seasons RV Club meets in the Card Room on the first Saturday of the month at 10 am. We usually plan two or three trips a year. If you enjoy camping and making new friends stop in. There is no fee to join the club, but we do collect food for the pantry in Hemet. We currently have one trip set-up to Pismo Beach in September. For more information contact Melody Lewis (858) 775-1213. Come join the fun! We play on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays from 7:30 am to noon. We invite anyone that would like to learn how to play Pickleball to come on down the fourth Saturday of the month at 8 am for lessons. We know you will have as much fun as we do. Players of all skill levels welcome! Pickleball
