42 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2019 Step It Up Line Dancing Country Line Dancing Ever thought you might want to learn to line dance? Well, we have a new very beginners class Tuesdays from 1:30 to 2 pm in the Ballroom starting this month. Please be prompt and bring water, as you will be thirsty. Everyone learns at a different pace. Just take your time in class and practice at home and eventually you will master the first two dances. You may stay in the beginner's class as long as you need to. Many of the steps learned in the basic dances are used in other songs in a different order. This makes learning new dances easier. Our beginner group is learning more dances using many of the same steps and adding new ones as needed. Most of them are quite surprised and excited that they are learning the dances so easily. The intermediate class begins to conquer slightly harder dances, gradually, while still dancing to old favorites. There is a real sense of accomplishment when you hear music and know what dance to do. The advanced group just loves to dance and the dances are more complicated and usually faster. When finished, they feel like they have had a workout. Dancing, in general, is both learning new footwork and memorizing the order of the steps. In other words, it is exercise to music and good for your brain. I hope you will give line dancing a try. At least come watch for a while. You will find friendly people and music that will brighten your day. Any questions? Please call Martha Franck at (714) 345-8588. ~ Martha Franck Summer is in full swing and those crazy line dancers are really "steppin' it up"! We are learning new dances and reviewing older ones to all types of music each week. When I look around the room weekly, the one thing that comes to mind is that people who line dance are truly young at heart and have a zest for life. They also have a love for music and the dancing keeps them feeling young. While talking to someone this week, she told me that she was scared to death the first week that she came to class, as she had never line danced before and did not know anyone in the class. That fear quickly went away once the music started, and she met a lot of people and has been dancing ever since. If you don't want to become grumpy, you might want to come to class and see if you like it. Classes are held on Mondays with "Step it up" Line Dance 101 (entry level) starting at 12:30 pm and we then roll into the beginner/ intermediate class about 1:15-1:30 until 2:30 pm. Even if you try it and you don't like it, please keep your zest for life and keep on trying new things. ~ Janine Rohrbacker Dancers at our July Country Line Dancing and More party
