| OHCC LIVING | OCTOBER 2019 | 33 Village Vets The Village Vets meeting on Oct. 24, at 3 pm in Abravanel Hall will be our annual meeting and officer elections. The Nominating Committee has put forth the following candidates: David Hefler for Commander; Tom Brennan for Vice Commander; Robert Smith for Treasurer and Barbara Hazlett for Secretary. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor for these positions. Our very special speaker will be Melanie (Mel) Taitano who volunteers on Honor Flight San Diego and serves on their Board of Directors. Mel works full time for the Department of the Navy as a Logistical Management Specialist. We are asking our veterans who have been on the San Diego Honor Flights to be at this meeting, and participate along with Mel, and talk about their experience. Everyone is invited to our Annual Veteran's Day celebration on Nov. 11, at 11 am in Abravanel Hall. Remember to save the date for our Village Vets Holiday Party on Dec. 15 in Abravanel Hall. There will be dinner catered by Bobby's Hideaway and great music by The Music Station. We are planning to host about 20 active military personnel and spouses, two at each table. If you want to think about inviting friends for tables of eight plus two military. The price per person will be $30 for members and $35 for non-members. We will be accepting checks and reservations starting Nov. 1 through Dec. 5. Do you need a temporary loan of medical equipment? Helping Hands maintains an inventory of wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes and shower chairs for people living in Ocean Hills Country Club. Call one of the volunteers listed below and we will deliver to your door at no cost to you. You can help a neighbor in OHCC by donating a clean, serviceable item that you are no longer using to Helping Hands. Check your storage areas for the items listed in this article.
