| OHCC LIVING | NOVEMBER 2019 | 15 Yiddish Club Chai, Yiddish Clubbers! Our speaker at the October meeting was Dan Schwimmer, long-time member of AIPAC. Dan always gives a fresh, interesting approach to the status of politics in the Middle East, so I'm sure that the program was informative. We have much to be grateful for and much to celebrate! Although this article is written well before our October meeting, at which time we elected officers, we are confident that the slate of officers, as presented, was approved and welcomed! We are happy to present the incoming 2020 Yiddish Club Board which reflects a teamwork approach. Co Presidents: Elaine Massei and Batia Cagan. Co-Veeps: Debbie Garey and Itamar Cagan. Confirmed as Treasurer is Arnie Wallins, and Joann Bush continues as Secretary. Don Kent and I will serve on the board as past officers. We are fortunate to have a large committee working on Programs for 2020: Katherine Backman, Joann Bush, Batia and Itamar Cagan, Debbie Garey, Harv Jaffe, Kaye Preston, Sandy Marin, Carole Silverman, Laraine Steinman and Arnie Wallins. What a year it will be! At the October meeting, we presented our growing collection of Yiddish-themed books bestowed upon us by the Oceanside Library courtesy of Gail Wells, along with private donations for our reading pleasure, as our own lending library. Enjoy the books you selected and be sure to bring them to the December luncheon so that others may read them, too. Meanwhile, gey gezunterheit! Lainy TAG members are here to offer computer, tablet, and smart-phone assistance to all OHCC residents. Volunteers provide General Help Sessions, Topic- Specific Help Sessions, How-To Workshops, and classes throughout the month. We have resident enthusiasts in Genealogy, 3D design/printing, Windows, Apple, Android, etc. who list their availability on our calendar. View the most current calendar in the window of the Computer Room or on the OHCC website under Clubs, at TAG, then click on the Calendar tab.
