48 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2019 Women's Evening Bible Study "No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another." ~ Charles Dickens. 'Tis the season for gift giving: Giving from our hearts by helping our neighbors, being kind with an abundance of smiles and encouraging words. Time is a precious gift and we can give it volunteering for charities serving meals to the needy, visiting convalescent homes, and donating food and clothing to those less fortunate. Wishing for you the spirit of giving this most lovely time of year. Our Bible study will gather together once this month on Dec. 12, at 6:30 in the RCN building for our holiday party. We will be sharing a meal, enjoying warm fellowship, and fun activities. No Bible study. We will have a short break and start back on Jan. 16, continuing our study of the Parables of Jesus. We look forward to the new year and the exciting teachings from the "word of life." One of the most rewarding gifts is praying for one another. We have received blessings, hope and inspiration through our prayers. The gift of prayer is eternal. This is a non-denominational study and all women of Four Seasons are invited. We are a friendly group and will welcome you with open arms. Merry Christmas! ~ Mary Baer, baerhuggy@icloud.com Jewish Cultural Club announces our 2020 line up of activities and a big close to 2019 Chanukah Show & Party We will end 2019 with a bang, featuring our giant Chanukah show and party on Dec. 17 starting at 5 pm in the Ballroom. As of this moment, we are not sure how many tickets have been sold, so contact us or check the poster to see if there are still seats left. It will be an evening to remember with so many interesting things to see and do. There will be kosher wine tasting, Israeli folk dancing, comedy, music, and traditional Chanukah food. The evening will culminate with a giant Hora dance (that's Jewish line dancing… kind of — except the Hora is a circle dance. Well, you get the idea). We will dance outside to light our brand new six foot tall Menorah. You know what they say, "Be there or be talked about!" Movies, Movies, Movies On Jan. 5, 2020, we will be having our regular movie and dessert potluck. We will be showing the film Keeping Up With The Steins. The film is a hysterical look at two Hollywood families caught up in the competition of who can have the biggest Bar Mitzvah. The story takes some very funny twists and turns, with a wonderful message at the end. Bring a dessert to The Lodge to share and join us for a fun night. On March 1, we will be showing the film The Yankles. It's a film about an orthodox Yeshiva (school for Rabbis) that fields a baseball team in the College World Series. The writer and producer of the film, Zev Brooks, will be on hand to discuss the film. The movie stars Don Most, who played Ralph Malph on Happy Days. As usual, there will be a dessert potluck. In the fall, we will be showing Yentel with Barbara Streisand. It's the story about a woman who wants to become a Rabbi, against the norms of the day. It's a touching and entertaining film. More Fun Stuff The Summit will be the site of a few activities. In the spring we will be celebrating our annual Passover Seder at The Summit. The summer will feature a Friday night Shabbat (Sabbath) get together with a dessert potluck and Jewish music. And in the fall, we will build a Sukkah for the holiday Sukkot. Sukkot is the festival of the harvest. And a Sukkah is a replica of a tabernacle that was built in ancient days in the desert. And the celebration features — well, you guessed it —more holiday food. It's going to be a fun year with new and interesting things to do. As always, there is no formal membership and everyone is welcome. You don't have to be Jewish. We hope to see you all there. ~ Perry Goldstein, perry.goldstein@gmail.com Jewish Cultural Club
