68 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2019
Fishing Club
Wow! Here we go again. I found out I might have surgery on my
left hand because when I fell into the lake, I hit my hand on a rock.
The rest is history. Seems like no mater how safe I try to be something
always happens to mess me up.
Now that I got that off my chest, let's talk about fishing. The trout
season is now in full swing. Almost every lake around us now has
planted trout that are ready to be caught and put in the frying pan.
The more guys or gals that you can get to go with you the better. You
can all try out different baits and see what the trout are going after.
Plus, if you do not catch anything maybe your fishing buddy will give
you a couple for dinner.
Some fishermen love to fish only for trout. I will fish for everything
that swims in the water. I have caught catfish while fishing for trout.
I have caught bass fishing for trout. In fact, I have caught a bunch of
different fish while I have been trout fishing. You never know what
you are going to catch until you put your bait into the water.
Christmas is my favorite time of the year to go fishing. In California
you can still go fishing in a t-shirt and be very cozy. The best part
of Christmas is that you can try out your new fishing gear that your
loved ones have given you. Of course, they expect you to share with
them some of the fish you catch. I get very excited when I see a new
fishing rod and reel under the tree.
Trout like to feed at different times of the day. The longer you
fish the better chance you have at catching a really nice fish. Most of
the fish you are going to catch will be in the two pound range. Light
tackle really makes trout fishing fun. However, you should set the
drag correctly just in case you nail one that is over five pounds. I have
seen a lot of unhappy faces when the line breaks and that big fat trout
swims away with a smile on his face.
Tight lines to all my fishing friends and remember: Live to fish
and fish to live. Either way, you are going to have fun along the way. ~
