24 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | December 2019 | Cardio & Strength "Walk-Fit" Exercise Club Happy holidays! Hopefully you will have lots of good times with family and friends – time with lots of good food. Now would be a good time to get a head start against all those holiday calories. Walk Fit Class is a good way to start. A full hour of aerobic walking burns about 350 calories. (Three times a week is 1,050 calories.) The class consists of eight different Leslie Sansone "Walk Fit" dvds. The easy-to-follow routines are set to music with varying tempos. The complete class is four miles, but you can come late or leave early to shorten your routine and work at your own level. A few of the dvds incorporate resistance bands (always optional). Some class members add light hand weights for added strength training. Stop by and give us a try. New members are always welcome! Class Schedule: Mon., Wed., Fri. from 7:45 to 8:45 am in the Lodge Ballroom. CLASS IS FREE! For more information, contact Karen Tuvim (316) 260-0847. Come join us for the Cardio & Strength Class taught by Certified Instructor Shannon Ramsey. This class is the perfect way to work on strength, balance and endurance! We use exercise bands and one, two, or three- pound weights to increase our strength and balance, while simple step routines to perfectly choreographed music help build our cardio endurance. Best part… it's completely modifiable to a chair routine so you can work at your own ability level. Bocce's official season at Four Seasons starts in the spring every year. Next year we will play for 10 weeks, our current players have requested a longer season. Watch the Herald for more information about sign-ups, which will be early in 2020. Remember any resident of Four Seasons may sign out the Bocce equipment and play at any time. The Lodge attendant will be happy to assist you. They will take you to the SPA building where the older equipment is stored and give it to you for your use. You would then return the bag to the door of the storage area and let the attendant know that you are finished. They will put it back at their leisure. If you are new to the game and would like some coaching, please contact me to set up a day and time. Sue Malarkey, (951) 223-3056, suem86301@ gmail.com or csm86301@aol.com. Bocce The 2019 season of Four Seasons Shuffleboard has ended for 2019. Our last game was Nov. 7 and the finals were held on Nov. 14. Since I write this article early in November for the December Herald, I do not know who the winners are. That information and the pictures will be in the January Herald. We currently have two unbeaten teams. Time will tell if one of them ends up the first place winners. Our awards party will be held in January after the holiday season. There is a group who are practicing most Monday and Friday mornings. They start at approximately 8:30 am and play for about one to two hours. Come out and join them, they are great teachers for anyone new to the game. This is a fun sport, easy to learn and easy on the joint. If that does not work for you, please call me and we can get together at a more convenient time for you. Sue Malarkey, (951) 223-3056, suem86301@gmail. com or csm86301@aol.com. Shuffleboard
