| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2019 | 59 Sun Lakers III At the time of this writing we are a third of the way through our season. We find Team Motive in first place. They are Claudia Davis, Larry Davis, Bridgette Whaley and Joseph De La Torre. Last place is firmly in the hands of the Ball Busters team. Can they hang on? It seems Canyon Lanes has the new equipment dialed in, bad sets requiring resetting are down. My game and my team's standing is still a little off, as well as all of those other teams on the right side of the page. We're in good company! Best of the Women are represented by these girls with Season High scores Scratch series Bridgette Whaley 615, Barbara Semic 513, Scratch Games Sharon Winkler 251, Kathy Manzanares 201. Normally I'd follow this with the men's statistics but really who cares, but in an effort to stay out of trouble, Bob Mejia, my father in law, had a high Handicap series of 770. Today we bowled against The Almosts, Laura Kosla and her better half Ron Kosla, along with the ever entertaining Emil Nily and his much better half Ida Nily who get so many spares that it really just becomes a little boring. I encouraged her to miss a few to spice things up a bit. If you know someone interested in bowling they should contact Teri Comerford (760) 217- 9656, Sun Lakers & Friends As we go to press, our Tuesday league is well underway. Let's extend a BIG welcome to all bowlers new to our league. We hope you enjoy bowling with Sun Lakers and Friends. It's been a struggle on some days, but everyone is trying their best and, after all, bowlers, none of us are headed to the PBA. So have FUN! Here are some early results: High Team Scratch Series goes to newcomers Team 12-Chitty Bowlers (Ron and Lela Bonneau, Kerry and Jim Bowkley). The Team Scratch Game goes to team 1- Gutter- Done (Joan Allen, Ida Nily, Peggy Laurel and George Thiel). Mens' High Scratch Series goes Ken Schnable with a 706. George Thiel holds the Men's High Scratch Game with a 278. Womens' High Scratch Series goes to Bonnie Greene with a 539. The Womens' High Scratch Game goes to Lela Bonneau with a 215. Team handicap scores will be tracked from week seven. Bowlers must have a minimum of 12 games (before bowling) to be listed for high handicap game and series. Bowling tip for senior bowlers: "Keep your body nimble by stretching. Stretching the muscles will keep you loose and prevent injuries. Take 20 minutes daily to focus on stretching exercised that work the muscles in the arms, shoulders and legs. Take five minutes before bowling to stretch too." ~ Source unknown Sun Lakers at Canyon Lanes Now that Thanksgiving is behind us and we have had our fill of turkey, we are just feeling lazy. This may be the time to get a bowling lesson and then go to the alleys and practice. So many bowlers are saying to me their game is going in the wrong direction. We just can't score like we used to or the alleys are so tough. We have a pro shop and we have an instructor. Get up and get a lesson and then practice, it will help, and you will enjoy the game more. At this time we have two teams at the top of the winner's column. In first place is Motion to Strike with: Lakana Burkett, Mae Brock, Pat Bisesi and Jim McGowan. Second place is Just Lucky with: Gail Stormes, Marlene Gartman, Larry Stormes and Andy Toro. Season High Scores are: for the men, Richard Cook with a Handicap Series of 752, Larry Stormes with a Handicap Game of 286, Andy Toro with a scratch Series of 749 and Rick Waters with a Scratch Game of 256. Season High Scores for the women are: Gail Stormes with a Handicap Series of 758, Sharon Mills with a Handicap Game of 259, Ginger Chavez with a Scratch Series of 512 and Marlene Gartman with a Scratch Game of 200.
