10 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | January 2020 | As we say goodbye to the holidays, we greet 2020 with winter weather. In Hemet, that can mean cold raining days, to warm type spring days in the 80s. When we have cooler weather, be sure to turn your automatic sprinklers off. While we aren't in drought conditions this year, any opportunity to save water is helpful in our part of California. Some of our residents regularly head for the pool all year long. Residents may have noticed that the landscaping has "taken a hit" in this area. This is due to having changed out our watering system to a reclaimed watering system, and the old water system was turned off. Because of the pool, it is important to put in new landscaping that takes into account a reclaimed watering system, and not have this water enter into the pool. Once new landscaping has been done, the reclaimed water system will be turned on. To this end, Artistic Maintenance and with input from the Landscape Committee, have submitted landscape designs for the pool area. These designs were approved by the Landscape Committee in November and forward to the Board of Directors for their consideration in December. If you haven't been up to our Gazebo area just south of the Lodge, come take a look and enjoy an outdoor lunch or coffee. Did you know behind the Gazebo is a small walking path featuring beautifully landscaped areas with tables and chairs where you can sit among the rose bush garden and grapevines? It's reminiscent of being outdoors in Italy or wine country. We are lucky to have a peaceful spot, which includes a waterfall too! The Landscape Committee meets the first Wednesday of the month at 1 pm at the Lodge. Residents are welcome to attend. Landscape Committee Emergency preparedness committee Your Emergency Preparedness Committee hopes everyone had a safe and joyful holiday season and a Happy New Year! The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program is designed to increase individual and community preparedness and self-reliance in the event of man-made or natural disasters. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has officially recognized CERT as an important part of a community's disaster preparedness readiness. Four Seasons CERT continues to need your participation. We meet the third Monday of the month at 9:30 am. Become a Street Captain or CERT Auxiliary. Step up. Be a part of the best CERT in the valley, come make a difference. For more information visit https:// fscert.org/cert-volunteer You can help yourself. To learn how to get ready, go to https:// fscert.org. Display the blank green sign in your window. It's a convenient place to store your signs and have quick access when you need them in an emergency. Just flip the green sign around if you are "OK" or replace it with the "Need Help" if you are not, so your CERT neighbors can prioritize getting help to you. Plan. Prepare. Survive. Facilities Committee The Facilities Committee hopes everyone has had a great holiday season. As it is a new year the committee has a number of projects on the agenda and are evaluating the best options to present to the board for their review of each of them. We do monthly inspections of the facilities and try to catch maintenance issues as they appear. We could always use help from the homeowners. Please let us know by telling the front desk or filling out a Maintenance Form at that desk. You may tell us in person at one of our meetings which are the first and third Wednesday of each month. Have a happy year.
