SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | JANUARY 2020 7
By Jo Anne Krebs, Resident
The weather was a perfect fall day, the
Ballroom was filled to the max with over
150 "Islanders" coming together to celebrate
Veteran's Day. The SDV Veterans and Friends
Club provided a terrific luncheon and
entertainment that was truly appropriate to
the day's celebration.
The SDV Quilting Club had the honor of
presenting Quilts of Valor to 10 members of
our SDV family. Quilts were presented to:
Chancy Killens, Randy Daniels, John Mulstay,
Jack Kautzman, Daniel Remy, Frank Shabo,
Geffrey Lewen and Steve Whaley. Two wives
of Veterans received quilts in honor of their
deceased husbands. Betty Smith received a
quilt in honor of her husband Armand Smith,
and Marilyn Van Tassel received a quilt in
honor of her husband, John Van Tassel.
The final event of the afternoon was the
drawing for this year's Opportunity Quilt. The
winner was Linda Weiss, who happily received
the quilt while waving a very long strip of
ticket stubs. The SDV Quilting Club wishes to
thank all who participated in our Opportunity
drawing, you have helped to keep our Quilts
of Valor program flourishing for another year.
We are always looking for other SDV
Veterans who have not yet received a Quilt of
Valor, but would like to receive one. For more
information, please call Jo Anne Krebs (951)
929-1431.

Many thanks to all who have contributed to our annual food and
toy drive. The food was delivered to the Hemet Community Pantry
located at 191 S. Columbia Street. At the time of this writing we
plan to drop the toys off at the Hemet Fire Department as well as the
