32 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2020 | Happy Valentine's Day! Our next meeting and support group will be on Thurs., Feb. 20 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. There is no guest speaker this month. This will give you more time for the support group. I cannot stress the importance of these meetings. If you are caring for someone, you need to take time to care for YOU. We are here for you. We are a caregiver support group for all caregivers. You do not have to be caring for someone with Memory Loss. We are here for EVERYONE! We have a wonderful program for the patients in the Arts & Crafts Room. We have fun! We sing, dance and sometimes we play BINGO. Most months we have live music. Drop your loved ones off at the Arts & Crafts Room on your way to the meeting. We are a group of loving caregivers. We enjoy caring for your loved one so you can go to the meeting and not worry about them. If you have any questions, would like to learn more about Memory Loss, or would like reading material that we can loan you, call Diane at (951) 769-0130, Doug at (360) 840-5559 or Anne at (951) 845-8700. Remember we are here to help. Did you know more than 16 million Americans provide unpaid care for people with Alzheimers or other dementias? Caregiver Support Group We must dedicate this write up to our fallen and beloved leader, Barbara Finelly, whose passing on Nov. 22 has hit so many so hard. She was there as a volunteer in the beginning when the 80s Plus Club was created in the late 90s and then by 2003 she was running it herself as the President of the Club until just a few months ago when she went into the hospital. She was also actively involved in the Makua Hula dancers and many Follies where she was never afraid to do silly and goofy things if it were to entertain all of us. She touched so many here in Sun Lakes and she was loved by all and will be missed tremendously. A Celebration of her Life is now scheduled for Feb. 15 in the South Clubhouse. Please RSVP to attend to Olga (951) 846-3579. All our love goes with you, Barbara! Another horrible loss we faced was Sandee Neal, former Treasurer and current volunteer for the 80s Plus Club. She passed away suddenly and shockingly on Thurs., Jan. 2, while just walking in a store with her husband, Bob, also an 80s Club volunteer. She had contributed so much for many years to the 80s Club. We will miss you, Sandee. Our sincere condolences go to her husband, Bob. Our December gathering was a wonderful Christmas program performed by our own Sun Lakes Razzmatazz. They were, as usual, fabulous. Thank you, ladies. You are ALL incredible! We are now meeting the first Saturday of each month where we have some social time along with some wonderful entertainment and a great meal. You're welcome to join us once before deciding if you'd like to join. Our catered dinners are $13 per person. Please get your reservations in by the 20th of the month to Donna Harrington at (909) 561-5066. Your checks made out to 80s Plus Club, can be dropped off at 5393 Riviera. Spouses and caregivers are welcome, as well as visiting children and other out-of-town guests. Our next gathering is March 7. 80s Plus Club Progress is developing with the All Is Well Group. Our vision remains, "To establish daily contact through a volunteer with the service-enrolled solo resident to affirm that All Is Well for the day. Such personal contact on a daily basis will not only reveal the possibility of an urgent need that could be properly met, but satisfy the desire of every resident for human contact." If you wish to volunteer or have more information, text or call Barbara Searcy at (951) 663-3382 or email her at Acbarbm@aol.com.. All Is Well Group
