| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | February 2020 | 27 From the President - Gary Sopata: Thank you George Hice for your service as Marshall these past few months. You have made a huge impact on our playing time. Ask not what your club can do for you… ask what you can do for your club! From the Handicap Chair - Melody Lewis: The WHS is now in place and being implemented here at Four Seasons. A major change is the maximum score allowed on any particular hole for posting purposes only. Your max score on any hole will be, par for that particular hole + 2 + the number of strokes you receive based on your playing handicap. During club play you must hole out on every hole to be eligible for our competition that day. Everyone is solely responsible to know their playing handicap, any holes and how many strokes per hole you receive. You can determine your course and playing handicap by using the USGA online calculator or from a chart available at the course you are playing. From the Social Chair - Debbie James: We will be having our annual golf banquet on Sat., Feb. 22 from 5 to 9 pm at the Lodge banquet room. Come and enjoy an Italian dinner with your golf friends. From the Tournament Chair - Elliot Yaeger: You may sign up for golf at the golf course prior to Tuesday's golf event or send an email to hemet4sgc@gmail.com by Monday noon. Feb. 4, 8 am: President's Cup – Match Play (Rd. of 8). Others Play Low Net Thurs., Feb. 6, 8 am: President's Cup – Match Play Semi Finals. Others Will Play Partners Mixed Flight Scramble Feb. 18, 8 am: Partners Same Flt: Nine - Nine (new) Front 9=Low Net, Back 9=Scramble Feb. 25, 8 am: (T) "Masters" Low Net by Flight. Post as Tournament From the Membership Chair – Marilyn Edmonds: If you like to golf, we have a club that golfs once a week on Tuesday mornings at Hemet Golf Course. Our games vary from week to week: individual, pairs, teams, scrambles, by flight or by mixed flights. We have many social gatherings throughout the year and we also meet weekly after golf in the Hemet Golf Course Clubhouse. If you would like to join or need more information, email Marilyn Edmonds, membership chairperson, at m_edmonds@sbcglobal.net Our Awards Party for Shuffleboard was held on Jan. 20. We all had a great BBQ feast and celebrated our 2019 season winners. Our first place winners, Jim Gates and Mike Garrett received their prize envelopes and a commemorative picture of the event! Our second place winners, John and Sandi O'Connor also received their prize envelopes and picture. I am resigning my position as Chairman of Shuffleboard and Toni Harris has agreed to take over. This will be my last article for the Herald. I know most of you regular players know Toni Harris and will give her all the help and support that you have given me. Thank you! There is a group who are practicing most Monday and Friday mornings. They start at approximately 8:30 am and play for about one to two hours. Come out and join them, they are great teachers for anyone new to the game. This is a fun sport, easy to learn and easy on the joints! For info contact Sue Malarkey at (951) 223-3056, suem86301@gmail.com or csm86301@aol.com. Shuffleboard HELP WANTED! Bocce's official season at Four Seasons starts in the spring every year. This year the season will be for 10 weeks, our current players have requested a longer season. Watch the Herald for more information about sign-ups, which will be in the spring, IF, as I am resigning as Chairman of Bocce, someone volunteers! THERE IS NO VOLUNTEER YET FOR THE CHAIRMAN JOB! Please consider helping Bocce to continue as a club here at Four Seasons. I hope by the time I write my last article for the Herald next month that I will be introducing the new Club chairman. Bocce has a wonderful supporting committee that has certainly made my job easy for the last few years and I offer them my sincere thanks! Remember that any resident of Four Seasons may sign out the Bocce equipment and play at any time. The Lodge attendant will be happy to assist you. They will take you to the SPA building where the older equipment is stored and give it to you for your use. You would then return the bag to the door of the storage area and let the Lodge attendant know that you are finished. They will put it back at their leisure. For info contact Sue Malarkey at (951) 223-3056, suem86301@ gmail.com or csm86301@aol.com. Bocce
