32 | OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2020 | The Billiards Club February schedule is full of opportunities to learn more skills and games. If you missed the first three basic lessons presented last month, video is available on our website, ohccbilliards.wixsite.com/billiardsclub under "Lessons." If you haven't joined the Billiards Club yet, it's only $7 per year, which includes lessons, tournaments, and special events almost every week from January through October. On Thurs., Feb. 6, at 1:30 pm, we will offer Basic Lesson #4: The Ultimate Goal: POSITION. After the first three basic lessons you know what you need to do to control the cue ball. This fourth lesson will put it all together for you. In the final analysis, controlling where the cue ball goes is the most important pool skill you can have. Join us on Thurs., Feb. 13, at 1:30 pm for a Mixer Lesson to learn three of our most popular games – 8-Ball, Cut-Throat and Golf. You and your partners will spend 20 minutes learning and playing each game under the expert tutelage of one of our top players. After each game, you'll advance to a new table to learn another game with new playing partners. It's a great way to learn these games and to meet other players. At 1:30 pm on Thurs., Feb. 27, the Billiards Club will present one of our highlight events, the "Starting out Right" Seminar with Professional Calvin Coker. This is your opportunity to see a real pro put it all together in a single session. Everything clearly explained and demonstrated: stance, grip, bridge, stroke, and the pre-shot routine. Prior to his seminar, Calvin will be available for individual lessons. Calvin has taught thousands of students for decades, and he will make a difference in your game. It's $20 for 15 minutes. See Charlie Payne to reserve a time, or phone him at (760) 295- 0670. At 1 pm, Calvin will show a selection of good cues for $80 to $200+. You are welcome to ask questions, try the cues out on our tables, and even get their weight adjusted, all at prices well below what the stores charge. This is a great opportunity to move up from our $20 beginner cues. Show up early if you want first choice. Billiards
