| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | March 2020 | 27 From the President - Gary Sopata: Thank you, Bill Barnes for being our marshal these past few weeks. Please let me or Bernie know if you are interested in being a marshal — it's a paying job — a free deli sandwich combo on the day you marshal. It's a great way to be involved in the club even though you can't play. From the Handicap Chair - Melody Lewis: The WHS is in full swing! There had been a myriad of issues with various members handicaps and all have been resolved that I have been made aware of. If you are still having issues with posting, please contact me and I will try to sort things out. Update on posting program… if you post hole by hole the program will calculate your max score on a particular hole… no more figuring where your strokes fall. From the Greens Liaison – Bill Barnes: The course staff have been very receptive to working with us to make our club play as enjoyable as possible. The course is sponsoring "Breakfast Snacks" the first Tuesday of each month and have discounted the sandwich combos for weekly voucher winners. Currently, we are working out the details for a special discount lunch for all players once a month. On the course, they are marking a par 3 the second Tuesday of the month for the "Get in the Circle" game, updating signage for penalty areas and drop zones, setting up new hole placements on the practice green and mowing it right before Tuesday play. The course has also sponsored a marshal program for Tuesday play, and responding to our concerns about course conditions. They have just installed a new motor in the machine that grooms the bunkers, so they should be much better. Ray has committed to address any concerns we may have, so please feel free to contact me or another Board member of any issues. From the Tournament Chair - Elliot Yaeger: You may sign up for golf at the golf course prior to Tuesday's golf event or send an email to hemet4sgc@gmail.com by Monday noon. March 3: Partners Same Flight - Best Net Score per Hole March 10: Team ABCD - Best Two Net Scores per Hole March 17: Team Scramble (ABCD) - St. Patrick's Day Celebration - Wear Green March 24: Partners SAME Flight Six - Six -Six March 31: (C) "Masters" Low Net by Flight Post as Competition PLEASE NOTE: Beginning April 7, starting time will begin at 7:30 am. I would like to start off with a big thank you to Sue Malarkey for serving as Shuffleboard/Bocce chairman for three and a half years. A great job appreciated by all. Also, a big thank you to Royce Jarman for serving as our treasurer for many years. Thanks for keeping us in the black. Shuffleboard's season is over until the beginning of September. We have scheduled sign-ups for Aug. 27. More information to follow. If you would still like to play there is a group that practices at 8:30 am Monday and Friday. They are always happy to help new players and welcome seasoned players who just want to play. There is no commitment. Play when you want. Any resident can check out equipment to practice. The Lodge attendant will take you to the courts and unlock the cabinet. You will receive the number of cues needed for the number of people playing, a set of yellow and black pucks, one shaker of premixed beads to spread on the court and the broom to sweep the court before and after you play. Please do not walk on the diamond finished courts, they can be slippery even before you spread the bead mixture. When you are finished playing leave the equipment in front of the cabinet and let the attendant know you are done playing. They will return the equipment to cabinet and RE-LOCK the cabinet at their leisure. If I can answer any of your questions please contact me, Toni Harris (951) 325-8357 or toniharris63@verizon.net. Happy Saint Patrick's Day! Shuffleboard To all Bocce players, experienced and new. Our season will be starting soon and we are looking forward to it. The sign-ups will be on March 12 in the Ballroom at 1 pm. We are looking forward to seeing you and any friends that you bring along to join our fun. Information will be given at the sign-ups. We will try to answer any questions that you may have. We hope to see all returning players and anyone else who would enjoy playing Bocce. Remember that any resident of Four Seasons may sign out the Bocce equipment and play at any time. The Lodge attendant will be happy to assist you. They will take you to the spa building where the older equipment is stored and give it to you for your use. You would then return the bag to the door of the storage room and let The Lodge attendant know that you are finished. They will put it back at their leisure.
