Let's face it. Writing is a solitary enterprise. As Natalie Goldberg (author of Writing Down the Bones) says, "Anything we fully do is an alone journey." How true. That's why we need the company of other writers now and then to help us; to make constructive suggestions when we are so close to our work that we can't see it clearly; to connect with others who are on a similar quest. That's why the Four Seasons Writers' Club is so important to us. But a writer needs an audience, too. So twice each year we groundhogs venture forth from our respective burrows (blinking in the unaccustomed light of day), to meet and mingle with our neighbors and friends at the Four Seasons Craft Faire. We invite other burrow-dwellers to join our club as we learn more about writing and how to do it better, and maybe sell a few books. So if you hope to catch us in daylight, that's the place to do it. Come to The Lodge Ballroom and stop at our table on March 21 from 9 am to 2 pm. Meet the authors… we don't bite — promise. Some of our members are beginning writers, some are published, some have won awards, and some are newly-minted authors, all of whom will be happy to help you, wherever you fall on the writing spectrum. (Some wag once said, that all the first step to successful writing entailed was to apply one's seat to one's chair. NOTE: It might take a bit more than that.) We firmly believe that everyone has a story. By telling yours, you enrich us all. Not sure how to go about it? That's what the Writers' Club is here for. We invite you to visit us on the second Tuesday of every month, in the RCN Conference Room, from 1:30 to 3 pm. We'll share what we've learned, our trials and triumphs, and try to help you achieve your own writing goals, either for personal fulfillment or for a wider audience (or both). "Perfection is terrible, it cannot have children." ~ Sylvia Plath We'd love to see you there. As such, we believe it is a perfect representation for our group. We are residents of Four Seasons Beaumont who also happen to be gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender. The rainbow is so perfect because it really fits our group's diversity in terms of race, gender, ages, and beliefs. While we strive to serve the interests of our members, we do welcome all supportive homeowners and encourage everyone to attend any of our functions. We believe you'll enjoy our company. Everyone leads busy lives (even at our age!) and we often find it difficult to stay connected with our neighbors. Therefore, the Rainbow Group has monthly get-togethers on the fourth Thursday of each month in The Lodge Game Room at 6 pm. Our next gathering will be on Thursday, March 26h. Our monthly get-togethers are mostly informal social gatherings which give members an opportunity to meet new neighbors, catch up on member and community activities or news, and just chat — no stuffy agenda items, roll calls, minutes for us! If you are hungry, feel free to bring your own food items and adult beverages, or join some of our members before the meeting and order from the Kopper Kettle Bistro. The Rainbow Group also hosts periodic gatherings for socializing (such as BBQ's, potlucks and holiday parties), LGBT-themed movie nights in the Lodge movie theatre, and other events the group may sponsor. Maybe you'd even like to suggest your own activity for the group--we are always open to new ideas. Please direct any questions to Dale at (951) 797-0364, dalebeckes@gmail.com or on Facebook, search for and if interested, ask to join Four Seasons Beaumont Pride. ~ Dale Beckes Rainbow Group Writers' Club
