FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2020 43 Step It Up Line Dancing We sponsored the Super Bowl game for a second year in a row and what a game it was! We had 130 gather in the Ballroom in front of the big screen. Put it on your calendar for next year. We had a potluck with awesome food and some pregame games. Winners included Mike Corbett in the field goal kicking competition, Julie Roth in the flag toss game, Rene Garcia with the football throw competition and Scott in the "kick the bucket" football game. It was a really fun day and the best part was that my team won — go Chiefs! The Monday class after the game we danced to Kansas City. We've been learning a new dance every week in the Beginner/ Intermediate class and we've got a few new favorites. In LD 101 at 12:30 pm, we've been learning two new dances every week and reviewing the ones from the week before. There are many new dancers who seem to really enjoy our Monday class. OK, so no more excuses for those who work. Just for you, I have started an LD 101 class (entry level) on Wednesday at The Courts at 6 pm. It's a really fun class with great people who are energized to learn. It's also a great way to get some extra dance time in for those who come to the Monday afternoon class. Get off the couch and come give it a try. ~ Janine Rohrbacker, (949) 326-3133 Let's Dance! Our dance group is looking forward to learning the waltz in March. The first class is Monday, March 2 and will be FREE to any new guests or any previous members of the Let's Dance group who have not attended in the past six months. The waltz is a graceful dance of flowing, slower movements that couples always enjoy. Please join us for this lovely, traditional, and easy ballroom dance… we guarantee you will enjoy yourselves! Some of the health benefits of dancing include stress reduction and increased cognitive acuity at all ages. Dancing integrates several brain functions at once – kinesthetic, rational, musical, and emotional – further increasing your neural connectivity. After studying many types of physical and cognitive recreational activities, at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, it was discovered that "The only physical activity to offer protection against dementia was frequent dancing." So come join a fun group of neighbors in the Ballroom on Monday nights. Classes are 6 to 7 pm for beginners and newcomers and 7 to 8 pm for intermediate and advanced. The cost is $10 per person after the FREE lesson with our professional instructors and you are welcome to attend both classes, based on your dance skills.
