This is the perspective of the artist of the month, Robert Isava:
"It's been a year and a half since I started taking Mixed Media Art
Classes with this group. From my first elephant which was in pencil,
up to this painting, I have explored and not been afraid to try many
styles of expression. This has helped me develop my own style. I have
found I like to spend time on detailing and learning about values, hues
and shades needed to bring more realism to the painting. My choice
of medium for this work is acrylic which is my favorite medium. This
piece is titled "Autumn by the Lake." It's an 18"X 24" painting. I found
using all the colors of fall in the reflections on the water as inspiration.
Coming to class helps me to get off the couch and share some social
time with wonderful people. At home I explore the Internet for extra
tips, however in class I can get instant feedback from our teacher, Rob
Kelman, and classmates. It is about sharing what we know with one
another. We all have unique ways of expressing art through painting.
I love opening the door and seeing my classmates and laughing with
them. It's social time while learning how to paint. Come join us."
