| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2020 | 3 From the President's Desk By Sandra Moyer April is here and with it hopefully spring flowers, blooming trees and mild temperatures. Also, our Board and Delegate Elections will be Wed., April 8, in the Ballroom starting at 9 am. If you have not already mailed your ballot, please take them down to the Ballroom on the 8th no later than 8:30 am and give to the Election Company. I want to thank the two retired Board Members for all their hard work and dedication to Sun Lakes. Whether you agreed or disagreed with their decisions, they gave of their time and expertise. John Clark has served this community since 2006. That is 14 years of service. This is what I call above and beyond the call of duty. Jim Evans served on the Board back in 2008 and then graciously accepted to return and fulfill Jim Searcy's term which ends as of April 8. I also want to acknowledge all of the retiring Delegates and Alternate Delegates. They too have put in many hours to keep their residents informed as well as welcoming new owners in their district and performing any special tasks the Board may have asked of them. They are the pulse of the community. This year, the Census Bureau is conducting a census count. You should have received a letter of notification sometime between March 12 and 20. Typically, if you respond to that notification, they will not come by, but if not, you may get a knock on your door. By law, Civil Code 4515 B4, we must allow them on the property. Second, the coronavirus issue. Although this is a serious virus, it is not a time to panic but be proactive. Management has already posted a statement on Good Day Sun Lakes. We are working with EPAP and we will follow directions given to us from the County of Riverside Health Dept., Cameron Kaiser MD, their Health Officer for the county and any other directions that the state may decree. As residents, you too need to be proactive and follow these everyday common sense guidelines: • Get a flu vaccine if you so choose. • Avoid recent travelers, especially those returning from cruises or from out of the country. • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands. • STAY HOME WHEN YOU ARE SICK. • Cover your mouth or sneeze with a tissue, then throw in trash. • Follow CDC's recommendation for using masks. CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a mask. Masks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19. Basically, be aware and cautious in personal behaviors. Food for Thought: "To each there comes in their lifetime a special moment when they are figuratively tapped on the shoulder and offered the chance to do a very special thing, unique to them and fitted to their talents. What a tragedy if that moment finds them unprepared or unqualified for that which could have been their finest hour." ~ Winston Churchill
