Wonderful changes are happening in your Four Seasons library. We have jokingly asked the BOD to build another room to house more books for us! That did not happen but having the extra shelves under our paperback books feels just as grand! Committee members are excited throwing out ideas for the new space. A section for children's books! Art section! Sports section! Military section! And my favorite… A spot to honor our local FS author's books regardless of copyright dates! This month we will start relocating sections. Feel free to open the cabinets to see what is available. We want to thank our very talented handyman, Tim, for building the pull-out shelves. Great job Tim! Our "Author Talk" presentations for Four Seasons is going strong. April 2, Vicki Allen Hitt, will be speaking. Vicki is a Four Seasons resident and recently had her first book published. Attendance is important, they do this free and they donate their books to our library for us to enjoy. June 4th, Jan Moran, will be speaking. Look her up on your computer! In the near future D.P. Lyle will give a talk. "Doug" has been writing books for 40 years and is well known. He is a cardiologist with a love of writing. Check him out as well. If YOU have had a book published and we are unaware please let us know. We now have a suggestion box in the library. All books are donated by residents and belong to Four Seasons. We work using the honor system. What you "borrow," you return. The hardbound fiction books are displayed from 2010-2020. They are alphabetized by author. Our paperback books are displayed from 2015-2020, also alphabetized by author. Please donate your magazines dated February, March and April to be displayed. Smaller magazines are accepted and put on our tables to read while there. We are pleased to let you know that LARGE PRINT books now have a green sticker on the outside making it easier to locate. Please donate them if possible. A couple of new cameras have been installed in Four Seasons and one of them was put in the library. It took me a bit to even see it! This is for safety purposes. We send our get-well wishes to Jim Hatcher! Miss seeing him around The Lodge. Blair is trying to become bionic! Just added a new hip. We wish him well. Until next month… Cookie From Blair: "Libraries will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no libraries." Anne Herbert | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | April 2020 | 13 Library Committee Welcome spring! Looking forward to warmer weather and California sunshine? After some months of overcast skies and freezing weather this past winter some of our plants have suffered frost damage. Most of these plants are not dead, but burned from the two consecutive nights of 27 degree cold we experienced in Four Seasons. Plant experts caution to not trim burned foliage before all expectations of cold weather have passed – it serves as insulation for the plant. As of this writing (early March) more cold weather and rain is expected at the end of March. Mid April to early May would be an appropriate time for more landscape trimming. Other routine spring cleaning/maintenance items include weeding, checking and cleaning debris from gutters, refreshing sand in artificial turf, trimming back any plant material that blocks air flow around your air conditioning unit, checking patio furniture for sun damage, wear or deterioration including any patio umbrellas, and restaining any wood fences that have faded or are water stained. You may also look into changing the air handling filter (recommended every three months), draining your water heater (recommended annually), cleaning your dryer vent (a potential fire hazard – recommended annually), and change the batteries in all smoke detectors (recommended annually). If you have not installed carbon monoxide detectors, it is recommended that you do so now for your own protection. DO NOT DO WORK TO YOUR PROPERTY WITHOUT REQUIRED APPROVALS. Your neighbors, nextdoor.com, or your friends are NOT THE PROPER SOURCE to determine whether you need an Architectural Review Committee approval. The only correct source to answer any questions is your Architectural Assistant, Maria Donti. IF IN DOUBT, ASK. You can make an appointment to speak with Maria at The Lodge: (951) 325- 8188 or email: maria.donti@fsresidential.com. Please respect her time. Due to her heavy staff workload, she is not necessarily available to speak with you on a walk-in basis. Thank you for helping us keep our Four Seasons community safe, quiet, and beautiful.
