18 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | April 2020 | Funnily enough, having a solid science background has prepared me well for Acrylic Pour Painting. While my various graduate degrees provided a wonderful career in Postsecondary Education, I always had a hope that at some point I could pursue a more creative direction. I have always admired the anatomical drawings of Leonardo de Vinci and thought that might be fun to pursue once I retired. I tried pencil drawings… NO. Watercolors… NO. Acrylics…NO… I actually felt quite dejected until I discovered Anne-Marie Ridderhof on YouTube. This completely changed everything as I had discovered the activity of Acrylic Pour Painting. The activity is a wonderful combination of imagination, creativity, and experimentation — somewhat like an alchemist. The elements of science play a key role in potential outcomes and the boundaries are only limited by your innovation, originality, and resourcefulness. The joy of mixing paints, moving paints and inspiring paints to interact is the ultimate exhilaration! I have enjoyed working with the many folks at Four Seasons who have shown an interest in this activity and look forward to offering new and exciting opportunities in the future.
