22 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | April 2020 | Birthday bash for all! For our February meeting we had a representative birthday party for all members, complete with cakes and a symbolic candle, (we did not want to risk burning the facility down lol). Thank you Sandy Stinnett for donating the cakes and facilitating the festivities. She stumped us all with a fun quiz on cake names. We have a membership of 41 so far and 34 attended our meeting. Vera Scholl gave us the treasurer report and we discussed our upcoming events. Diane Corte hosted a wonderful event at the Historical Glass Museum in Redlands, CA in February. In March, Carol Ferber took a group to the Fallbrook Art Center with lunch at the Cafe' des Artistes. Carol is one of our members who is well connected with the art community, and we thank her for her participation. Cookie Scott coordinated a group of ladies and their husbands to attend a tribute concert at the Pala Casino on March 31. Colleen Rosenberger will be leading a group of our theater enthusiasts to the Lawrence Welk Theater to see "Nunsence" on April 25. If interested contact Colleen at (951) 538-4989. This month the ladies gathered paper goods to donate to the Valley Restart Center. Our chairperson, Lucille Gould delivered them. Thank you all for contributing. We have many exciting events coming up… Lavender Fields, game days, etc. Please come check us out at our next meeting on April 27 at 2 pm. For questions, contact Lucille Gould at (951) 325-8366. FS Ladies Club TGIF April 3: Welcome spring and Easter this month and join us for Karaoke, a great dinner and lots of fun. If you have a new neighbor, invite them to come with you. We always love to welcome new residents. You won't want to miss the fun and raffle prizes. Then on April 20, the Social Committee presents Hollywood Revisited. Get your tickets and join us for another exciting evening. May 1: Start May with TGIF and KARAOKE! It is a great way to meet new and old friends, enjoy visiting before dinner and then stay for Karaoke. Don't be shy, pick a song and join in the fun. Maybe even get up and do a little dancing! Bring a dish to share with 8 – 10, your own utensils, dishes and beverage of your choice. We will provide hot water, instant coffee, tea and ice. Don't forget the raffle. Tickets are two for $1. We always have great prizes. Looking forward to seeing you on April 3. Remember new residents get to go to the buffet first! Book Club All readers interested in great discussions, occasional guest speakers, and movies, join us the third Monday of every month. Our book for April is The Shadows by James Hitt. He will be our guest speaker. We will be meeting at my house at 669 Weir Drive at 2 pm. Hope to see all of you. Any questions, contact Vicki Allen- Hitt at (951) 926-6336 or vhitt@ hotmail.com. Did you know? There are a lot of signs that knitting and crocheting may help delay or prevent age related memory loss. According to recent research from The Mayo Clinic, knitting, crocheting and other types of crafting are cognitive exercises that may reduce Alzheimer's risk by 30 to 50 percent. With knitting and crocheting there are always new skills and techniques to learn. Your brain and your hands are getting a good workout, while the completed project can be very rewarding. At the same time, this can be very relaxing and a great stress reducer. So if a relaxing activity and some great socializing sound appealing to you, please come check us out on the first and fourth Friday of each month at 1 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room at The Lodge. Hope to see you there! If you have any questions, please contact: Donna Morrell (951) 385-3808 or Maggie Fussell (951) 388-7640. Needle Me
