SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | APRIL 2020 5 Lifestyle Director's Report Lifestyle Director's Report By Sandra Day, Chairperson, SDV Welcome Committee The SDV Welcome Committee invites you to attend our next New Resident Mixer event on April 15 at 10 am in the Mountain View Lodge Ballroom. This is an opportunity for new residents to meet those who have lived here a while and learn more about life on The Island. We are confident you will enjoy meeting some of our lovely new neighbors. Therefore, we want everyone to feel invited and make an effort to attend. We need to know your will be joining us so we can plan appropriately. Please RSVP by signing up at the Front Desk send an email to SDVwelcome@outlook.com. Coffee and goodies will be served. By Melissa Valona, Lifestyle Director This month I would like to discuss some administrative topics. It seems that over time there has been some confusion for club/group/ committees' responsibilities as well as management duties. First, I would like to make clear that there is a hierarchy set in place in your Rules and Regulations section 7.9 Priority for Use of Facility: In order to maximize the use of the clubhouse facilities, the following priority has been established for scheduling use of the facilities: 1. Solera Diamond Valley Board of Directors for sponsored events, classes, or meetings. 2. Events for the benefit of residents coordinated through the Lifestyle Department. 3. Events or meetings sponsored by committees, ad-hoc committees, and/or sub-committees of the Solera Diamond Valley Board of Directors. 4. Approved Chartered Club activities. 5. Approved Special Interest Group activities. 6. Private party use. This means that any room reservation may be subject to change. In order to minimize changes, please be aware and take into consideration ongoing club and group reoccurring schedules. I would like to limit changing a reservation to only when absolutely necessary. Teri and I have implemented some new forms for the community to improve efficiency in filling your requests and minimizing lost requests. For all groups, clubs, and committees print jobs we will be requesting a printing request form at least 24 hours in advance. Some of these meetings require timely packet assembly. In order for Teri to complete these tasks correctly, and on time, we will need advanced notice. Please remember that all groups and clubs are privately organized and are run by the appointed volunteers within that group. Management does not offer administrative support for any creation of flyers or handouts, but we will happily post and print any advertisements composed by the group/club. The second new form is in reference to any View edits and article submissions. It has been made clear that executing club and group edits in The View has fallen short in the past. Requests that are made verbally, left on a note and/or dropped at the front desk or by email will no longer be accepted. We now have a form that will allow you to say what edit is needed, allow us to track the request and update you once completed. All submissions must be turned in by the fifth of the month. All article submissions will be reviewed by the Communications Committee at their monthly meeting through their usual review process and, once approved, be added to the next month's edition. The View calendar will only list daily activities, group and club events open to the community. Private events/meetings will not be posted in The View calendar. Please note that Room reservation forms only guarantee a saved space in the facility it does not mean it will be submitted to The View. The View magazine submissions form must be turned in for all event addition requests. I understand that implementing these new forms creates more work. These new procedures are necessary to ensure that the same rules apply across the board, and that we do not miss edits or activities. It is important to me that everyone is heard, and requests are addressed. I also would like to mention that if you have a room reservation please do not occupy rooms past your reservation times. Welcome Committee: Your Personal Invitation By Daniel Mendez, Resident The Hemet Fire Department is offering a free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program on April 17, 18, and 19 at the Hemet Fire Station 4, 1035 S. Cawston. It is designed to increase individual and community preparedness and self-reliance in the event of man-made or natural disasters. This is not a CERT refresher course. Students MUST complete all 20 hours of classes in order to receive their certificate and free CERT bag. Many of the Solera residents are already certified. Go to the city of Hemet website to register, then click on Fire Department / CERT / and Register. Topics covered include Disaster Preparedness, Disaster Fire Suppression, Disaster Medical, Light Search and Rescue, Disaster Psychology, Team Organization and Terrorism Awareness. C.E.R.T. Training
