| OHCC LIVING | APRIL 2020 | 29 Woodchucks The Camp Pendleton YMCA has given the Woodchucks two additional ways to serve. Under the leadership of Master Toy Builder Goldie Weis, we are building toys for following challenges. Camp Pendleton has three preschools with a need for age-appropriate toys. The "Y" remembered that Goldie, with her craftswoman talents, has built puzzles using a 3-D printer. They asked the Woodchucks and Goldie for help. Shown in the photos are examples of the recently created, colorful puzzles for the preschools. The Marines also have a program to help our returning soldiers unite with their young children, who may or may not remember them. To help this program we designed, built, and packaged small toy kits that allow the parent and child to bond by building, painting, and playing. Pictured with Goldie is another Master Toy Builder, Larry Bowers, as they ready their kits for delivery. What a special program! The Woodchucks continue to serve our community, the Marines of Pendleton, and our loved ones. Join us for the joy of creating something amazing out of a piece of wood, then throwing the rest away… sawdust. Art Lovers At our April 21 meeting we are delighted to have as our guest artist, Jayne Spencer, noted watercolorist and international award winning artist. A San Diego native and graduate of San Diego State University, Jayne Spencer has been painting for more than 30 years and exhibiting throughout Southern California. Her father's paintings and her graphic design degree strongly influence her work, which focuses on bold lines, shapes, and color. Jayne has combined her passion for art and her skills in teaching to develop a uniquely blended style in the classroom. Her methods enable students at all levels to better grasp the concepts of watercolor, while also feeling at ease in the learning and creative process. One of her greatest joys is helping her students embark on their creative journeys. Please join us on Tues., April 21 in the Mykonos Room at 1 pm to watch a demonstration of watercolor painting by Jayne and hear her talk about the role of creativity in healthy living. You won't be disappointed! Refreshments will be served at 12:30 pm. For more information please contact Paula Doss at pcdoss@att.net or visit our website, http://ohartlovers.wixsite.com/art-lovers.
