Village Vets
Our March speaker was to be Major Roy Knight. Due to
coronavirus concerns, the meeting was canceled.
On April 23, our speaker will be Steve Macks Dilley who directs
the VetArt project. VetArt operates free workshops for all Veterans,
Active Duty Members as well as their family members and care-
givers. It provides free Deep Arts Engagement and Art Therapy.
These programs help to combat the growing number of veteran
suicides, now more than 6,000 a year. Changing lives through art
uses many mediums to capture the interest of our veterans, including
glass and porcelain, bronze casting, and woodworking. VetArt
operates free workshops in Vista, and a bronze casting foundry in
Fallbrook. As Director of this important program for vets, Steve will
give us information and show results at our Thurs., April 23 meeting.
Doors open at the Clubhouse starting at 2:30 pm. Refreshments will
be available. I'm sure you will enjoy this speaker and you can get
involved in VetArt too.
If you didn't get the opportunity to join us this year yet, you can
leave a check for $10 per person at the Clubhouse front desk. Please
mark on your check "for dues" and have it placed in the Village
Vets envelope. We will contact you for any additional information
necessary. We continued to send Bugles to our past members for
the past few months. If you want to continue receiving them in the
future please remember to bring your membership to current status.
If you need a new American flag or assistance getting one installed,
please call Tom Brennan at (760) 842-1470. He will be happy to help.
