Ballroom Dance has lessons on Wednesdays. Professional instructors, Maria Tee and Larry Clenendon, provide a wonderful opportunity for OHCC residents to learn Ballroom dances in the comfort of Abravanel Hall. We start a new dance nearly every month so you can learn or improve the dances of your choice. Beginner classes are from 3 to 4 pm and Intermediate are from 2 to 3 pm. The cost is $5 for club members, $7 for non-members, pay at the door. We have dance parties monthly. The Valentine Day Dance included a free Rumba lesson from Carrie Kloss and George Mozes, delicious refreshments (gourmet cheeses and chocolate covered strawberries) arranged by Hermina and Hans Soechtig, complimentary champagne arranged by Kory Ward-Cook, Musicstation's outstanding dance rhythms, talented OHCC resident Jim Silveira's singing, beautiful red dresses, and lots of love. The opportunity to hear quality live music is a treat you won't want to miss! Most of our dances are casual, bring your own refreshments, and cost only $12.50 for club members and $15 for non-members, payable at the front desk. Two dances include dinner and are fun dress-up special occasions. Please join us! The upcoming dates are: April 10; May 8; June 12; July 10, Black Tie optional dinner dance; Aug. 14; Sept. 11; Oct 9; Nov. 13; Dec. 18, Holiday dinner dance. Join now! Annual dues are $10. Put your check in the Ballroom Dance Club's envelope at the front desk. You will receive a weekly email, keeping you up to date on club activities. Need more information? Have any questions? A lot of the "green" was in evidence as our students and all other members enjoyed the traditional meal prepared by Bobby's Hideaway, who always provide a very good meal. Dancing followed for two hours of fun - and exercise too. We all need to keep both the brain and those old joints flexible! Our students continue to add to their repertoire of dance steps at the Tuesday afternoon classes. Altogether they will learn more than 100 separate moves, the classes are so much fun that it doesn't seem like work at all. Jim, our caller, is so good he makes it easy to learn. See if it might be something you'd enjoy, by stopping by Abravanel Hall to watch us some Tuesday between three and five. We have just learned that the club will soon be losing its long-time Treasurer, Dave Quainton, as he and Judy are moving to Florida. They will be sorely missed, by the Village Squares but we all wish them much happiness in their new life. In addition to his work as Treasurer, Dave has recently been working hard to update and add interesting content to the website. There are photographs of previous square dance parties, a calendar of events, links to instructional videos, as well as links to service providers and other clubs in the area.
